I was just wondering how the strength in numbers special rule and stead fast works together. In the Errata it states that when a unit is steadfast it can use its unmodified Ld without any penalties. Do skaven get their bonus or do for example slaves have to test on a Ld2 if they're steadfast? Can they use the Ld of the nearby general?

The wording of steadfast was changed in one of the FAQs. It no longer says "unmodified leadership", but something along the lines of ignoring CR modifiers.

If anybody comes on this thread and says "but don't worry about it, just flank them!" i will probably punch him in his kidney.

Flanking them will deny them the leadership boost from SiN at least. That can be up to +3. It's not a panacea to be sure, but it does help.

Agreed. A unit of 50 slaves with a Seer nearby can be Ld10. Or 7. With a BSB at hand...well, I considered losing my slave unit to occupy six blood knights for the rest of the game a fair trade.

I simply struggled tp imagine skaven slaves Ld10 steadfast eith reroll just because there's awarlord and a bsb nearby, they're slaves and didn't exactly come because they wanted to...

Well, I think it comes in two parts:

1- in the heat of the fight, they're more worried about the guy trying to kill them than the guy that enslaved them, so they fight like "regular" skaven. Plus, they're probably eager to take out some frustration (and get a decent meal), and they gain confidence in their kin's presence like the rest of their race.

2- the punishments that await a fleeing skavenslave are far worse than any enemies will inflict. At least, that's what they've been made to believe-I think that Dark Elf witches or daemons of Chaos are at least as vile as Skaven. So when a slave looks at his superior, and at the standard that represents him, he might just be too afraid to run.

It's a Skaven tenet: always make sure your underlings are more afraid of YOU than the enemy.

The Seer nearby utterly terrifies the slaves into staying in the fight.

FYP.

Skaven are terrified of Seers, but that probably has something to do with their tendency to fry those that don't obey them.

Notice the lack of slave "Big 'un units" "Storm Slaves" or any other type of elite slave?

Slaves are bred and beaten to fear warlords and grey seers, and the secret is, Slaves only ever fight a battle once. Those that survive the enemy, and survive the rattling guns and warpfire throwers and likely devoured shortly after the battle. Wouldn't want word to get out about all that friendly fire, it would put a damper on the morale of the next batch of slaves.
