So I took some time this week and started into my sisters with the test paint figure. I cracked out he digital SLR and it showed a few spots that I need to either touch up or make some changes to, but in any case below is what I have for my army colors. Any comments or suggestions welcomed. Without further a due, I present the brides of the emperor.

Fantastic work so far! The only suggest I have is to maybe further exaggerate (or delineate, pick your favorite word =p) the parts of the armor from each other, but this is more advice, rather than criticism.

Can't wait for moar!

I was planning on doing that with the models that have the corsets, this ones does not show that to well. But I will see what I can do to further show the separation in armor pieces, a little difficult when working with metalics, but I am sure I can come up with something.

I am also thinking of what I can do with the mask on the helm. I think it needs to be broken up so I am thinking of possibly doing it as a split white|black or white|red or even red|black idk...

So I spent some time tonight doing some more work to the sisters below is what I finished up. Outside of waiting on the resin bases to arrive I think she is close to done. A few things I noticed, one super high rez cameras show faults in anything, so what my eye thought looked perfect proved to be false so I think I have a tad more touch-up work to do but that is for personal perfection more than anything else. A few things changed since the last photo. I ended up going red and white on the face mask. I thought that it added contrast, but kept with the theme, as was a bit of a throwback to the original GW paint schemes. Additionally, I added some color to the exhaust vents on the backpack. So the outside is white and the inside portion of the backpack is red. Additionally I finished up the metal buttons and added a very slight glowing effect to the eyes. I also added some color to the controls on the backpack. So any comments or suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks for looking.

So I finally got my test case based, and she is looking good. Her fellow sisters are now in various stages of being complete and will soon join her in the photo ops. Any comments welcome or ideas of items to change.

Thank you, I should have most of the first squad done by the end of the weekend, and I have around 16 immolators to build o.O....

Thank you, I will have a lot more to post up in the near future. I have told myself that I would not be playing them until I had my base 2000 point list painted. As such I have a long ways to go.

Young_Logan wrote:Lovely gold

It was a mix of vallejo silver (VC0997) based on white primer. Then 3 layers of gryphon sepia, followed by a very thin layer of badab black on the really deep recesses. After the washes, I dry brushed the outer edges with GW burnished gold, and then in the middle of that used GW shinning gold, so give it a rustic, but well maintained gold look.

I did some more work on the project over the course of the week and finished off 13 more sisters to join the test case. I have a bag full of them ready to be primed and started and a tub with more being stripped. I am excited to see some headway being made on this project. So below are the photos of it. If you want to see more photos, please go to the blog http://sistersofbattle.org/?p=46 to see more photos of them together.

As stated before, any comments are welcome, as well as ideas on how to do them.

Very good work there looking great, the bases really bring out the models.

The bolters are awsome.

Mostly, on my phone.

I like this, it's quite a Menoth (WM) colour scheme and I really like the execution. You might find a little purple added into the shadow recess of the gold will add depth and also help the coloured cloth pop a little more. Great stuff though, just my 2p.

Thank you, I wanted them to have a bit of the old flavor warning tape look. As for the bases, they fit them perfectly, keeping the fluer de lis theme going.

I do like the purple with gold, so I may look at adding some highlighting with purple, especially in the robes. I will have to think about the execution of it on the gold. Possibly do a mix to get them to the right color scheme. I had not looked at WM for color ideas before, it is not huge in my area so I normally don't think about it, but in any case I think this is a valid idea that I will play around with. Possibly use it to differentiate squads and such.

So I finished up my first batch of sisters of battle and needed to work on another part of the force. So I started my project to build my storm troopers and to do so, I needed add several items to the list. So First of all, I thought of doing the Kasrkin squad but I did not like the models, and the lack of possibility. Mind you I have a full army of un-positionable models, I needed to add something with some uniqueness to the force. So with that said I ordered 3 boxes of plasma guns from GW, procured 3 boxes of Cadians, and then added some green stuff to the mix in order to build them. So, below is really the core of the work.

The below two show show that I sent a pin through the core of the model. I needed to be able to fit the plasma gun properly on the arm so that it could be held by a second item.

In that gap, it needed to be filled with green stuff in order to have it look proper. I wanted it to have a more fluid looking arm, in such a fashion to look as though a soldier where carrying the gun.

In order to get a good look on them I used the below two items. I used the handle arms from the flamers and the grenade launchers so that the Cadians are using the plasma guns. So the items needed are 1 box of Cadian shock troops and 1 box of plasma guns. In my case I needed 3 boxes of each to fill my force.

This is a fun project, and I know how I plan on painting the forces. So, in a few days, I should have most of them finished in a short period of time.

Well it has been about a week since I posted any progress on my sisters, so here is what you have to look at.
So I have been working on these most of the week and I am several steps into them. More or less at least the general colors. I still have several additional colors to add to their pallet and get them up to par with my sisters, but they still have a lot to do to them.

As you can see it is a fairly simple patters with a light brown, with darker browns and then carapace with red attached to them. Any thoughts on them welcome.

I still think they have a very long way to go to bring them up to par, but at least I am making some progress. The life of family life, working, teaching and playing 40k

I am at a bit of a road block, I am looking for ideas of how to paint my tanks for this force. I want to follow something similar to the sisters color schemes, but I do not want a rolling gold bar. So any thoughts?

I also have gold sisters with red cloth and decided against gold bricks on wheels.. I went with black main bodies with gold red and white details, and they look lovely next to my girls

every vehicle has some form of red cloth attached to it though

I was thinking something similar, although I was not going to attach any red cloth.

Thank you, I have been putting many hours into them and still have a lot more to go.

I have also done some more minor work for those interested go to http://sistersofbattle.org

So here is some more work on the storm troopers. At this point I think that they are in the final phases of painting/minus bases, but they are coming along well. After taking a lull for a week or so my motivation to paint them has gone up a lot, but it is still waning a bit. I am really motivated to get to painting tanks, but I must finish these first.

So the steps that have been done since the last photos. I finished getting the small "cloth/leather" items painted their base colors. I then washed the model in badab black and painted the guns base black in order to highlight them and look similar to an M16 in color style. These guys are no Rambos but they can look like them a bit .

These shots give a bit better look at the models. I have some highlight work and dry brushing work to do, but those are quick steps. I have yet to decide if they will get to go on the same bases as my sisters or a different set.

Stuff left to do:

Highlight the deep reds

Dry brush over the canvas parts of the armor

Highlight the boots

Paint the flesh and gloves

Paint the metal parts of the guns, and highlight the black on the guns with a light gray

Finish up my decision for the bases, paint them and get them put on them

I spent most of this weekend building immolators. I plan on posting up some pics later today of the progress, but I have everything built to the point were I can paint the interior of each of them before putting the top half on them. I should be able to do 16 interiors in a week, and then take the rest of the month to finish off the exterior of the tanks to fit my army. Below is what I think I have come up with for my takes paint scheme, subject to change and it is only a representation of the overall color, and not the details.

I have not decided if I am going to offset it or not yet, but that is the general idea of how I plan on painting them. More than likely, to bring in the final colors of my army, I will use the gold to highlight many of the sisters iconography.

The first shot is just after painting the deck of the immolator.

This second one is a shot of the partially finished interior. I have some more free-handing that I want to do inside. But I wanted to show off my hazard stripe ramps a bit.

If you wish to see my pics, follow through to my blog.

I put some more work into the project tonight and finished up a couple of the interiors of 2 of them.

I am keeping with the hazard stripes for bolters and the doors, and I can tell between the first iteration of the door version to the second it has gone a lot farther.

One question I am asking myself out of this is how to get rid of my brush strokes when painting yellow, any ideas on this appreciated.

Thanks, I have been dumping a lot of hours into these.

So I finished up the immolator interiors. Here are a few pictures that I have taken of them all. I decided to add some pigment to them so that they have some weathering on them and such.

Lots more pictures can be seen at http://sistersofbattle.org/?p=101

It does not take much to field a lot of tanks with sisters, but I agree it is a lot.

Sweet Jesus, is that a Sisters of Battle army, or an Imperial Guard armored battalion? Great interiors, and the weathering effects resemble dirt and grime in real IFV troop compartments pretty well.
