Subject: Jump Pack Troops?

Alright guys, I'm new on here so I apologise if this has been covered before or if I'm posting this in the wrong place.
I'm creating a SM chapter and I'm having a bit of a dilema. I've decided on a colour scheme (dark green with gold trim/bone trim for vets). I really like the fluff from the Dark Angels Codex but I don't like the tactics. I want an assault based army, preferably with assault squads as a troop choice. Is there anyway of doing this wthout using the Blood Angels Codex, or there any characters that allow jump packs on troops that I've overlooked? (like Belial allows terminator troops)
Cheers!

Only one i know of is shadow captain korvydae from for the raven guard but his rules are in an imperial armour book and to be perfectly honest blood angels are probably a better choice for a jump army then codex marines.

You can use the BA codex and paint your guys green. Just make up some fluff B.S. about how they are some long lost BA sect when TFG gives you hell about them not being red.

Cheers, I've been toying with the idea of doing a Raven Guard successor and I was actually planning on getting the Forge Work model of him. I didn't realise he had that rule so it works out great. Are the Imperial Armour rules recognised by most people yeah? I've managed to find the rules for him online and that would be perfect. I don't mind using the Blood Angels Codex, but if I want a assualt based army it would be pretty expensive.

Not necessarily. If you haven't bought models yet...and felt comfortable with a little green-stuff work and some filing, you could buy boxes of Khorne Beserkers and the jetpacks separate. That way you have 12 guys to make instead of 5
You'd have to grind/scrape off all the Chaos/world eater stuff...so it might be too annoying to trifle with.

I had a similar problem regards what codex to choose (I wanted a mostly infantry assaulty jump pack army).

Personally I plan to buy regular SM tactical squads and sculpt and cast my own "jump packs". This will be significantly cheaper

Twice as easy with DA since they're "angels".
Choose a codex and paint them anyway you like. Tell anyone that doesn't like it where to go.

Not sure if it would be cheaper to buy a box of tac marined to get 10 blokes and then buy the packs seprately or not.
As said above, if people do have an issue with you using FW rules for that raven guard guy, just paint the army however you want, use the models you want and have the BA codex to one side ready in case anyone kicks up a stink.

The army would be much better using C:BA - C:SM assault squads are handicapped by their poor weapon options.
Tac marines and separate jump packs is slightly cheaper but you need weapons. If you can scrounge up enough weapons (lots of marine players will have spare bolt pistols and chainswords) then certainly get some like that. One problem with the assault box is that there are only two poses of legs.

Plus you could then your Vets costed up as Sanguinary Guard thus giving them kick-ass weapons.
