A quick 3 hour paintjob, how does it look?
Does it have enough weathering, or too much, or is there anything else I've missed?

It looks pretty good.

Some of those spots of bare metal look too large and/or out of place. If they're that big, I'd almost want to see dents or craters in the actual surface of the hull. When you're laying out spots like that, try to keep in my the type of damage the tank would be taking. In other words, how would those areas on the top of the tank be damaged like that? About the only thing I can think of is mortar fire.

I'm no expert on weathering by any stretch of the imagination, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Also, with so much empty space you could squeeze in a chapter symbol here or there.

I like it. Though with the scratches on the top and in regard to bushido. It could be like a lascannon or something to that effect was shot to high, and instead sliced across the top of the hull.

I think it's gorgeous..

The only remotely nit-picky thing I would suggest is a color variance between the weathering on the dozer blade and that from exhausts/gun barrel
there may in fact already be some distinction but I couldn't tell from the pic.

Great - especially for a 3 hour paint job! You can always go back to touch it up based on previous comments. Underlying metal is slightly pristine on the weathering front, consider pulling it back a bit.

Drill barrels in the stormbolter, or paint them on!

Really can't find a fault!

yeap, 3-hour, great job.

I think though that since you have some pretty significant weahtering, that going from bright red to weathering all over is drastic. I would try to add some grime of some sorts, at least in the areas where metal is showing.

Also, a touch of highlights on the read, maybe just on the corners, would go a long way in adding depth.

Still, looks better than mine atm.....

In lieu of the metalic scuff areas you have created, try using a sponge weathering technique, with charcoal and then vomit brown.

Trust me. It is super fast and insanely effective!

Thanks all, good feedback, it was my first try weathing, so all the points have been taken.

I threw together a quick razorback, painting time was 1½ hour..
Does it need more weathing/scratches than this you think?
Oh and disregard the missing tracks and lights
And I tried the sponge method

Oh yea, I was considering freehanding some chapter symbols, but I might Ebay/sell the vindicator and try over again

If you want to make those metal patches look like battle damage, one thing i've had success with is pooling some badab black on a section of it - when it dries it looks like a scortch/heat/explosive impact point without having to individually weather it.

The only other suggestion I would make is to either/or darken the crevices or highlight the high edges to give a bit of differentiation - but with your spraygun work, YMMV. Otherwise looking fine!

I like what you have done!
I would put some worn areas on raised parts of the tank....not quite down to the metal, down to the primer sort of thing,lighter/darker shades of red. Think about what happens when you rub a painted surface with sand paper/wire wool, thats the way I look at it when doing my battle damage.
Need to try that sponge effect, looks good!!

Can you run me through exactly how the Razorback was painted? I'm keen to find out how you achieve that in so little time.

Perhaps you could do a Step-by-Step or Video Tutorial?

Great painting for such a short time, I am truly envious of your quick painting skills!

Razorback: I just primed it vallejo grey primer, then panzer grey lastly scarlet red.

A bit of panzer grey around the exhausts and whereever i felt like it.

Sponge with black paint on it and go crazy, when it dries dab some P3 Mithril silver on it, so it dosen't get too nice a layer on it, has to look scruffy.

The glassses i just took from GW Mordian blue and lighted it up with white.

The TL lascannon was also painted red then airbrushed with panzer grey the areas it needed it, you need a better airbrush to be able to pull that off without having to use tape to not hit the red areas.

That was pretty much it..

Otherwise, AWESOME

My only criticism on the vindicator is the dozer blade, I like that weathering along the bottom, but I don't think it should have been black, I think you should have used a dark chocolate brown....that much black and red makes it a little too monochrome for me.

Id say this model looks fantastic for only investing 3 hrs of work. The damage looks nice and fits appropriately
