Can anyone tell me why?

Eldar Harlequin Shadowseer - Direct Only 99060104115DO ∞ £9.43 £9.43

+VAT = Total 10.51?

1) That ain't discount.
2) Even with postage that ain't even cheaper than GW? O_o

Is the site on the fritz?

Direct only items don't receive discounts, they must be ordered directly from GW each time one is sold. They will also delay your order. They aren't allowed to be purchased wholesale.

^What he said.

Dealers don't get direct only models at wholesale like the rest of the stock.

It looks like GW are keeping blister packs close, and only really distributing plastic boxes.
A huge pitty, but they're trickling out metal on demand.

I had always assumed that the advantage was not paying FW's 15% delivery fee. Is this not the case?

It's not FW, its GW direct.

I noticed this a couple of months ago when I was after a Nurgle Daemon Prince. Wayland had it listed on their site as more expensive than on the GW site. When I queried this, I found out that they don't get a discount on them (As noted above). The only reason they list them on the Wayland site is for people's convenience; ie so they can order everything in one place.

Ah obvious error that, thanks. I think I saw the shadowseer part and leapt to the conclusion that it was the new FW aspect. [facepalm]

My advice?
Don't use Wayland games.
I ordered 'instock' items and it took 3 weeks to arrive. I phoned and complained and they basically said "Not our problem. If you don't like it, go with someone else."

So I have and will do in the future.

Hmmm... maybe I won't use them (I had spent most of the day at work perusing their site yesterday)... or at least I won't use them if I have time constraints for my purchases. Three weeks does seem pretty long though.

Yeah, to be honest I only followed the link on dakkas advice of a discount. Shame they couldn;t discount what I needed. :(

Never mind, back to other sources.

I have used them and their communication is 5 stars... prices are very good and they ship free goodies sometimes... also a wide range of different brands of minis and battlefoam etc...
The only thing you guys need to be aware of is that their stock is not realtime and so its not very accurate on the online store... Just ask if the item is there and go from there if you are in a hurry.

Its one of the best EU stores.

Maybe I'll do a test purchase... something non-GW like a Warmachine Khador warjack or something... I've been wanting to get Drago anyway.

As a side effect, its a good way to track how may things are going to direct order slowly.

I noticed on Malestrom the Orc Warlord on Wyvern has gained 'while stocks last' so another piece joins the pile.

Be aware that all over the board some warmachine stuff is sometimes hard to get if its outofstock at supplier... both maelstrom and waylands sometimes struggle to have some items.

Sorry I absolutely refute your remarks. Not one of my staff would say anything of the sort.

Ah, gotcha. While I haven't bought from Wayland, the fact they do offer GW Direct items at UK prices + markup is still much cheaper than I can buy direct from GW here. I can see myself making an order in the future.

Indeed. Sounds like someone is pulling a story out their ass.

I have been using Wayland Games since I started Wargaming a few years ago. Not a complaint I could have. Massive discounts, excellent shipping times when you consider I'm in Chicago, Illinois, U.S, impeccable customer service on their website and via the phone.

I also have to weigh in say as a customer of both Wayland and Maelstrom, I have never experienced anything less than total professionalism in my dealings.

Thirded.[?]

I am also happy to back Wayland and having been shown round their facility a few times when pick orders up*, I have to say they are some real friendly chaps and the service has always been first rate.

* I live 30 mins away and should also point out that I am not associated with WG, just a happy customer.

indeed - thier main merit as far as I can see is that they offer reasonable prices for overseas buyers as evidenced above. I'd happilly buy from them for non-direct given the elaboration on the subject, after all, GW still gets a cut and I'm supporting a small business.

Epic win.
