You see, I recently bought a Cryx Deathjack...
And I am planning to make it into a daemonprince for my Iron Warrior army. But you see, I don't want it to simply be a Deathjack on a different base, so I feel the need to convert it. In general I thought I'd add some more armour plating on various places (such as the arms and the chest, expecially the arms as they are damn thin) and maybe also extend the legs a bit. But I would be very grateful if you had any ideas of what to do (and perhaps also how to do it)

For starters, you'll need chaos symbols, everywhere. Have it be spikier, throw on some heads for good measure. Give it a deamonic looking weapon. Perhaps you can make it appear as though something is inside it, or have bodies chained all over it, be sure not to make it look like a dreadnought though.

Perhaps get yourself the old metal GW daemon prince kit (the one with the better power armour) and use the legs from that, then stick the cryx torso onto the legs. use the arms from the GW kit with the hands of the cryx kit and top it all off with spikes, skulls and spiky skulls galore!

Both of you have some good ideas... I am definitely going to give it some chaos symbols, and spikes, and some better arms... However, I want its legs to look a bit more mechanized, I don't really like the power armour-like legs the old DP have. Also, I don't feel like spending that much more money on it The main idea is that the chaos lord was fused with his armour when he became daemonic, and mutated "mechanicly" if you get my point. I suppose i could try to extend and convert the deathjack legs, how do you think that would look?

This is a great idea i think.
Mind if i steal this from you?
I think, mixing this with the plastic daemon prince kit could be good, using the deathjacks hands, head, and afew other bits on the plastic DP, would end up with a good looking DP (although, i cant tell the scale of the death jack. Is the head big enough to go on the DP? it looks like it might be alittle small)
edit: looking at the various 'jacks (?) in the cryx range, alot of them look like they have bits that would be useful for chaos for things like dreadnaughts and DPS

I've been thinking about doing this for a Templars deadnought. Are they similar in size? I don't want to pull the trigger on one then have it be practically unusable.

Hmmmm...
1. The knees and elbows need to go. They should be flesh, or at least flesh with mechanical bits within them. I would sya paint the flesh black too, or give some indication that instead of blood they now have oil in their veins.
2. Because he has become a daemon prince, he's not ALL machine. All that daemon flesh has to go somewhere, and possibly because of the daemonic growth a lot of the wiring inside got pushed out. Have wires and the like coming from the openings.
3. Going with the daemon body with machine bits, I think it would be neat to have SOMETHING rupturing the armor. Like black spikes coming through at the top. It's not totally machine-y, but it is extra stuff to have it not be a standard deathjack.
Also, I should note that what I'm thinking of is something you could field in tourny, as in only half of it is a death jack model, the rest GS and bits.
Edit - What I meant in #1 is cover the mechanical parts with GS to give it flesh look.

Use GS everywhere!! No seriously, if you are any good at modeling, I would certainly be bulking the model up with GS.

Considering the relative bulk of the shoulders, spindly arms and short legs, it needs lots of sculpting or conversion work. I would add muscled arms and perhaps a Soulgrinder/Defiler-type undercarriage.

@Obsidian Raven - Steal ahead. And yeah, many cryx things fits quite well in CSM converting (and Necrons).
@Nu11nV01D - I think they are about the same size, though keep in mind that the design are very different from the usual dreads.
@Necronshen - His body and all that is inside the armour. That was actually one of the first things I decided; that the model should not show any flesh. Though, black spikes coming out of it is not a bad idea. And I can agree with you that his knees and elbows need to be better.
@SilverMK2 - Cool. I thought about using Terminus too, but decided the Deathjack was more fitting for what I had in mind.
@Sevenups - Perhaps, perhaps... That would be mostly the legs and arms, then, but if so I would not make it look very mutated.
@Owain - More muscled arms, definitely. Defiler-like legs, though, is not really my cup of tea...
I think in general, it is the legs, arms and maybe chest which needs to be fixed. I have plasticard and plastic tubes, that might be ueful. And so would green stuff.
