I have a conversion in mind but I need a good wicked looking scythe. Does anyone know of a specific bit that would work?

You might try Reaper Miniatures.

Typhus, a plague marine special character has one, but it might be hard to remove the hands on the handle.

The warhammer wizard has a nice scythe, though it is more grim-reaper than Man-reaper or VC wraiths if you just want a gothic scythe. Otherwise i would suggest other miniature makers such as [EDIT:] Privateer press as they seem to specialise in impractical weaponry.

Empire Flaggelants have a plastic scythe already removed from any handle. Just find a shaft you like for the handle and glue the blade on top.

Plasticard, hobby knife, half-round file, styrene/brass rod. GS/bits to taste. One badass scythe, made to your exact specifications.

The VC zombies and the WoC Nurgle sorcerer has some good scythes too.

I got some Bionicle stuff for Christmas a while back, and I thought using their weapons in a conversion could be awesome. In a humongous Japanese kind of way.

I made a couple power scythes out of some nid scything claws, brass rod, and spare plasma pistols. I'll see if I can get a pic up at some point.

I've also got a few scythes I've been working on to make printable here. I've been slacking on getting them cleaned up and revised for better printing, but if there's any interest I'd certainly get off my ass and do it.
