This is probably and easy one...

So, does a Chaos Rhino that buys a Combi-Melta or Combi-Bolter still keep its Bolter that it comes with as standard?

Yes. Therefore your rhino could have a TL Bolter and a Combi-Melta. Then after the melta shot has been fired you will have a TL bolter and a bolter.

Or you could have 2 TL bolters.

Hope that helps

I've never noticed that before...now all my Rhinos are modelled wrong...:( I always thought the combi-melta was just an upgrade. I've been cheating myself out of a Combi-Bolter!

Oh wow I thought the combi-melta would combine itself with the TL bolter. That's way better than I thought.

It gets better. Add a Combi-Melta and a Havock Launcher, now you are shooting a bolter, a TL bolter and a twin linkers s5 blast plate at anything within 24 inches, untill you can get up close with your melta. Plus you can move 6 and fire all of it. 8)

true, but then Rhinos start to get expensive.

It's also worth pointing out that, although the rules say it is possible, it's not physically possible to fit 2 of the proper pintle mounts on a rhino, the two whoels are too close. I ended up making little turrets out of searchlight mounts.

Combiweapons are usually worthwhile upgrades on Rhinos. An extra melta shot is always a good thing, and 4 bolter shots within 12" from a vehicle, 2 of which are twin linked, is not horrible by any means. Plus it gives you an extra "weapon destroyed" result. Whenever I have the points, I try to include them.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

As an IW player i would have to go with guns...big guns...with big bullets. Or Obliterators.

Checking 5th Ed. C:CSM, (spanish edition, I'll try and translate it properly) it states:
"Options:
One of the following pintle-mounted weapons... yadda yadda yadda"
- Please quote me right if necessary -

Anyway, that being possible you would have an almost twice the expensive (60+ Pts.) AV11 tuna can a bit too easy to pop, those many points might be better invested in more wounds?
