My Ork army is going to be lead by a Warboss and a Big Mek, the question is What should be have? My army is composed of footslogged boyz, nobz, burnas and kommandos while Killa Kans and Deff Dreads pound the enemy into submission. Which would better support my army, a kustom force field to keep then safe'er' or some unpredictiable hard-hitting firepower which only comes from the shokk attack gun.
If you think any other big mek variations would support my army please tell me
Thanks

The KFF Big Mek hands down.

What you should be thinking is Warboss or SAG. But, as your mostly a CC build Warboss would fit your list better. As the SAG needs a unit to join and they will be stuck in one place. While your army build seem to be moblie foot, the SAG dosen't really help.

I echo Noir's sentiments, a KFF just seems a whole lot more suitable for the list you want to run.

With a kan wall, a kff is almost a requirment. SAG is just too unreliable.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

OP:

Choose either one to be honest. In a competitive setting, a KFF would better suit your dreadnoughts by giving them 4+ cover.....but when your list is comprised of footslogging burnas and nobs with some kommandos, dreads, and kans thrown in there too.....competitive isn't part of the discussion.

Which one sounds like more fun? Random blast templates that could whiff and do nothing or open a hole in the warp and slurp up half an enemy army with a *poof, vanished, or a Big Mek with a KFF that lets you go, "Nyah nyah, you only THOUGHT you were going to get to lascannon that killa-kan" half the time?

If you plan on incorporating some Big Guns or Lootas for your SAG Mek to hang out with, then the SAG is an option.

Otherwise, not so much.

I concur with the other posters that if you're bringing Kans and a Deff Dread, a KFF Mek is much more suitable.

Eternal Plague

SAG Big Meks find more in common with a "shooty" Ork list comprising of lots of Lootas, Big Gunz/Killa Kans, and using Gretchin as a bubble wrap to prevent your army from getting swamped.

In the Webway.

Your list much more suits a KFF, your footslogging boyz and kans could really do with a 5+/4+ cover save, it significally increases the amount of boyz that'll make it to the enemy.

But, as dashofpepper says, the SAG is a lot more fun to play with.

Thanks guys, all of you for you input. I think im going to have both but field the KFF and Boss and save the SAG for small just for laugh games

Back in 4th ed i ran both, and just had two dreads as my troops. So you can imagine how disappointed I was in the rules on what units could score... Yeah, I like a big mek army. That being said, KFF for being most useful, SAG for being awesome win or lose. Frst time I fired mine, got double sixes firing at a leman russ, on target, max result on the old ordinance chart, second time I fired it, I blew him up... Those were some messed up dice.
