People have been talking alot that they might be a patern GW is going for releasing it's codexes. It will be an alteration between the Imperium and Xenos.

Blood Angels (Imp)
Dark Eldars (Xeno)
Greyknights (Imp)
Necrons (Xeno)
(insert imperium army codex here)

As of what I heard, the next one after Necrons will be a re-release of Dark Angels OR an Iquisition/Deathwatch codex. An after this most of the people agree that Tau will have to be redone. What are your toughts on this?

Deathwatch might be Ward's next codex after Necrons, but we have heard nothing to suggest either DA or DW is being worked on right now. I'd expect the next two armies to be Necrons and Sisters.

The previous Tau rumors have mostly been fairly tame, with just a few rule upgrades, some general updating, perhaps a nice new plastic model or two. The "allies" race thing seems overblown; I'm guessing that 3/4 (if not all but 1) of them will be pointless, overpriced models in a box, useful only for modelers and fluff-lovers. Sort of like those crazy orangutan-things that they great knights are getting (Why would they make that? Crazy ape w/ giant lasers aren't very grimdark).

They don't alternate Imperium-Xenos... They alternate Space Marines - not-Space Marines...

They released:
-Vanilla Marines (SM)
-Imperial Guard (nSM)
-Space Wolves (SM)
-Tyranids (nSM)
-Blood Angels (SM)
-Dark Eldar (nSM)
-Grey Knights (SM)
?? Nectons (nSM) ??

The next codex afterwards would have to be Space Marines. Perhaps they'll redo Black Templars. Perhaps Dark Angels. Perhaps Codex: Rainbow Warriors. Regardless, those all have priority over Tau.

The Jokaero have existed in the fluff as makers of Digital Weapons long before Digital Weapons were even in every Space Marine codex.

Plus, they're rather grimdark.

These animals are dumb, nonsentient, but great with technology. The way the AdMech "convinces" the monkey to create a certain weapon is by locking them up with tools and pretty much torturing the creature until it creates the tool needed to overcome the attacks. The AdMech then takes their toy and rewards the animal with a day of "not torture". Rinse and repeat.

Were is that stated at for the Jokaero? The only thing I found on them was they ran around in family/clans in ships doing whatever they want.

The releases also alternate Power Armour - not-Power Armour. And Sisters both need the codex more and have more evidence that they're being worked on.

This was explicitly impossible in the original fluff, because when a Jokaero created a tool to overcome the attacks, it would overcome the attacks. They were just lucky the Jokaero was likely to just build a teleporter to escape rather than go on a Tony Stark-style rampage to freedom.

Absolutionis, can I ask where you read that? The new GK dex doesn't really say anything about it (other than being able to lure them into service) and the quote from RT says the exact opposite:
Jokaero tend to build only things which meet their own immediate needs. Attempts to control the Jokaero and force them to construct technology have met with failure as they build things with which to escape from their captors.

Flame me if you will but there was a thread in the news and rumors section that was linked to somewhere that claims Sisters of Battle was next in line for updating.

There are some hints that Sisters are to be released given that they got items pulled the same way as GKs, as well as the rumor about plastic SoB sets in the works. Hopefully they will count as a "SM" army (despite obviously not being one) for releases, otherwise we'll probably be treated to a BT dex before the SoB and the Tau get updated.

I really hope that rumour of an Ordo Xenos codex is correct. Ward will like doing Deathwatch; and it finally means a real Ordo Xenos army will be playable (no Deathwatch are in the GK codex)

I really hope we dont get a DW book. While Deathwatch is a cool concept, the last thing we need is another SM book clogging up the release schedules.

Does Deathwatch even warrant a FULL army book?
As I understand it, their modus operandi is operating in small elite crack teams to hunt down specific threats of xenos incursions. Not take on full alien invasions.

And "the fluff changes". The Deathwatch is no longer ad hoc groups of Marines organized for specific missions, but they now have a full standing Chapter organization, manning Watch-Fortresses across the Imperium.

Then FFG had a good thing going with their Deathwatch RPG books, for the short time that lasted. Sigh.

So much retcon. Where has the 40k I grew up with went?

+1

Granted I've not been into the hobby for long, but the fluff was one of the biggest reasons I was drawn into the 40k multiverse.
I'd be ashamed if they changed yet another part of it, just to pump out another Marine 'dex

It was good when the fluff proceeded. I loved reading about how the Carnifex got Regen and crushing claws because they reabsorbed Old One Eye, the I remembered how I read about the possibility of Old One Eye being reabsorbed and thought "Oh wow! The story is moving, and I saw it!" Lame, but it meant something to me back then. But the stories became stagnant, and retcons made a bunch of previously interesting and fluffy Kill team members into flanderized versions of Space Marines.

I'm really hoping SoBs dont turn into "Space Marine with Boobs" and really let the writers play up the Acts of Faith. Recently playing Soulstorm reminded me how absurd their logic for the "Inviolable Aura" was if it was done in real life, but it felt perfectly fluffy for the SoB (a bunch of relics "blessed" by a saint magically grants invincibility? Totally awesome with the church militant combat nuns).

Actually, this is one of those cases where I like it.

It may seem like I hate it--but I do like it. The Deathwatch are kind of becoming the 'Special Forces' of the Imperium, and the Astartes now have an opportunity for something kinda interesting.

I would personally love to start seeing "Deathwatch Veteran" as an upgrade choice for generic characters in the various SM codices. Allow them to gain "Favored Enemy X" species of alien, but have it required to be modeled via a trophy.

That....just makes me cringe even more. Back when I started I was told that the basic SM was suppose to be the special forces. Then it was the Grey Knights, and now the Death watch. Ugh, I think my brain sprung a leak...

Mecha's right. The SM were there "Special elite forces". They weren't SWAT, they weren't even Marines, they were like the Green Berets or Delta Squad or something.

Then SM became the poster children, and GK are the Green Berets. But now GK are just like the rest of the SM, and the idea of the super-elite army is vanished into dust. In the name of profits, of all things.

Ugh. Gk makes me sick. If I ever had a game company I would never run it like that. Serve the gamers first - they're the reason you're rich in the first place.

On to less sickening matters. I guess after Necrons would be either SM or Sisters. God, I hope they don't make Sisters like SM. I loved the acts of faith for the short time I played them, and though the T3 irked me, it made sense.

Just watch - they all come with free combi-flamers that can flame infinite times and a permanent 5+ invul against xenos.

You mean "holy" bolters and "holy guns on "Holy" tanks and "holy" fists, just like the Wolves and their Wolf stuff, BAs with their Blood stuff and GKs with Nemesis stuff.

Sorry, the new naming convention irks me very much.

Does this mean that the next Tau book will have "greater good missiles" and "greater good rifles"?
