I was at one of the Games Day Seminars last year, and i asked about whether there would be plastic hobbits coming any time soon! My answer was, as expected, we cannot disclose any information; BUT they said Adam Troke was in one of the other seminars and he was championing my call for plastic hobbits, so could it be true? Could there be plastic hobbits in the pipeline?

Hello there Sled;

Currently I think that there is no information regarding what may be released alongside the Hobbit movie, it's a bit far away and as I recall during the previous LOTR releases, GW was under a pretty tight Non Disclosure Agreement as to any material regarding the movie - I believe they could only release the miniatures after the movie was on show. Not even a miniature preview or a hint, just teaser poster if I remember correctly.

Oh right thanks. They've just started filming part 1 of the movie, so it shouldn't be too long...

It'll go really quick since Peter Jackson doesn't care about the source and feels free to make it up as he goes.

The Hobbit Part 1?
I thought it was only going to be a short?

Don't mind PJ taking liberties as long as he doesn't do the same to the Dambusters film.

Yes, what a tragic loss was Tom "Totally not a self-insertion, really!" Bombadil from the LotR series.

PJs LotR was pretty good. I've been a fan of the books for many, many years, and whilst the films will never replace the books, it was a very good attempt.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Yea, seriously. Given the scope of the books, it's hardly fair to fault PJ for leaving stuff out. I'm surprised at how much he was able to leave in.

Nice bit of info regarding plastic hobbits; don't care for the LotR or WotR games, but the minis are nice and the plastics are good when you need a quick batch of similarly equipped figures. The smaller scale helps especially for RPGs where it can be hard to pick out the character models.

Has it been confirmed that the Perry Brothers will also be doing the Hobbitses?

Didn't the Perry brothers leave GW? I thought it was Brian Nelson handling it.

They still work for GW. They just do it as kind of an 'outside commission' from what I understand.

Would imagine there will be a metal Bilbo Baggins and characters.
Pretty much all else plastic as is currently the case.
