Have you noticed that the quickest way to get a reply on Painting and Modelling is to ask 'What Mini is this?'. Generally replies are slower for questions about colour schemes, Basing ideas or what should i add to this scratchbuild/kitbash? etc. This isn't in itself a bad thing but some people seem to take it upon themselves to answer these queries without otherwise contributing to the thread on the whole. Classic example: 'Nice Necrons, what did you use for that conversion?' interjecting non OP person 'he used the cryx warcaster'....

There has been one incident when it has effected me personally but i have noticed it happen alot. The problem i have is best summed up with my experience, i had incorrecty identifyed a miniature in my thread, being doubtful of my choice i searched for the mini and Pm'd the correct source to the concerned party. To my (tbh) annoyance someone (not naming names) had intercepted this question but otherwise made no contribution to MY thread (luckily for my pride i had beaten him to it). Whining maybe but hey it actually annoyed me.

Why did you make a topic about this?

What kind of changes would you like to see? Nuts and bolts forum is a good start for airing of grievances of how things get run and questions/proposals of how it could be done.

My short version is that you can't force people to give you what you want all the time. What would you do to encourage others to invest time into answering questions on P&M regarding how to paint, kitbash, ect.?

I want to see where you are coming from and what you would like to see happen. Take a step back and think how it could be helped if you were to suggest positive changes.

Try not to let it get to you. You're having a public conversation, so it's inevitable that people will jump in, particularly when a question is asked that can be answered with an objective answer. People are always happy to show they know the answer to a question.

Observe 'Imriel' has nothing to add to shasolenzabi's thread, bar undermining him. You really think he didnt know what model he bought and converted?
It's nothing more than a petty grievance with certain people's behaviour. You can look up my example if you wish.

Kingcracker simply asked Shasolenzabi what model he used. Imriel responded before Shasolenzabi with a nice link and image.

Stop trolling kid.

I don't really see an issue there. He answered a question posed by KingCracker.

If you look at the timestamps as well, he didn't just "jump in" there and try to ninja it before the OP could answer it. There's about 2 hours between when KingCracker asked and Imriel answered, then another 8 hours between when Imriel answered and Shasolenzabi confirmed Imriel's answer.

Now, he could have left a comment regarding the work itself--but in that case I think the work speaks for itself.

The question wasnt his to answer. He made no contribution to the actual subject of the thread.

"It wasn't his to answer?"

Have you met the internet? It's not big on private conversations. If you want to pick and choose who can answer questions, you may want to stick to using the phone.

When a thread is created, it can splinter a couple or a couple of hundred of side topics. i just see KC asking what the model is,
and then he's answered. truthfully, the answer and question were both On topic, imho.

i agree with WarOne. i'd love to be able to see where you're coming from. and i'm not saying your fellings don't matter. i just don't
see the smoke or the fire.

Its pretty simple all Imriel needed to write was ''Cool 'crons'' he didnt. EDIT: Plus his answer obviously.

All is forgiven Mastiff if yo simply edit your comment with something about my scratchbuild.

The P&M board is a public forum. If someone posts a question about a P&M post, and someone else knows the answer, there is no problem with them answering regardless of whether or not they were the original poster. Particularly since a lot of people post fairly infrequently, even in their own topics.

You don't 'own' a thread you start. Starting a thread simply initiates a potential conversation.

Moving on, since this isn't likely to go anywhere productive.
