I worked out this list to battle against my friend who is using 'nids. I would really like any advice for areas to improve. He tends to bring 3 zoanthropes, a hive tyrant, and 3 tyrant guard, and the one that goes underground (i forget the name).

This is an interesting list. As a space marine player I might employ it... now here's some forewarn.

Average space marines will often not best assaulty armies in assault. They're not bad at assault, they just won't be better than assault based armies. That being said, You should EXPECT to assault with nids... because that's what they do. So building some competent CC stuff is not bad. Assaulty HQs are extremely good. Flamers will do well. Also... You should charge them if you can. Don't let them charge you.

Go with rockets on the Tac Squads, the Heavy Bolter is weak compared to the rest and the MM is not going to really help when there is no vehicles to pop.

The Dread in the drop pod should have a heavy flamer and either an assault cannon or TL-AC, the TL-HB is really bad in this regard. Ironclads with a HF or even a Hurricane Bolter (this being the one time I would think of taking it) is a better choice. Also because of MC rules, a Venerable is slightly better as you can dodge destroyed rolls, but the cost makes it quite difficult to field.

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

Re-reading this.. you might want to go shooting dreadnaught...as opposed to one with a CCW. Monsterous creatures get 2d6 to pen so... I'd suggest not fighting against them in melee, but rather field a rifleman dread.

Just my thoughts: You'll get more out of fielding a Secondary HQ(Librarian, Chaplain, MotF) than you will with a Chapter Master/Captain mix.

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

I'd drop the Chapter Master, and buy a Vindicator for the bugs, nice way to handle hordes. A TFC isn't too bad either when it comes to slaiyng hordes, but its got problems regarding long term endurance and vehicles.

Hmmm...in my experiences with tyranids, having a devestator squad with plasma cannons and missile launchers gave me an edge since with the missile you can take them out from afar or if they get too close let them say hello to your plasma cannons, but then again it may end in a disaster with the plasma cannon if they are not used right.

I just can't see this list working. Doesn't this get picked apart? Sorry I'm not seeing anything but fail here.

Wow that would get picked apart my marines would love to sink their teeth into that.
Try troops something like tac squad with ml and flamer in a rhino times 2 maybe a mm flamer squad mm dread is always useful hf mm speeders are really effective really good for hordes and anti tank.
Assault termies in a lr rather than those other termies that you have and put them in a lr of some sort.

Well my strategy is to use my scouts to flank his army and teleport the termies in.... I am leaning towards assault termies because they would be able to clean up objectives without taking them.... Drop the dread behind his lines and use the rest of my troops to hold/objectives and slowly pick apart his army from a distance. I want to keep the Chapter master for orbital bombarment to clear out some before the game really gets going. So should I switch my Captain for something else....

From what I have gleaned... Definitely switching to all ML no vehicles to pop...

I included a libby to help work on the MC's and Zoanthropes and support the assualt marines, and the two tact squads have ML's and the third has a lascannon for the long range shots. Based on what models I have available.... is this a better list?
