I feel so lucky right now. My day started off nearly as horribly as any day possibly could, but this is definitely a little spot of sunshine in the midst of it.
It's missing 1 of each of the most plentiful players (one guy in the standing pose and one orc in the hunched over pose), 2 of the footballs and the painting guide leaflet. It's otherwise complete, including the original dice. The kicker?
3 fething dollars at Half-Price Books.
So, dakka, do I strip the minis and sell it or keep it as a nerd trophy?
What are the best deals you've gotten on minis or other nerdery? My second closest is a soul grinder, NIB for $20.

I have gotten a few good deals over the years.
One that comes to mind was a trygon NIB, 2 carnifexes that were primed, and 3 ravenors that were painted for 80 bucks
Another more recent one was a guy on ebay selling the space marine attack starter set that comes with 4 marines with bolters, a marine with a missle launcher, and 8 old school genestealers for 7 bucks. I have a buddy of mine that bought like 10 of em for prolly around 70 or 80 bucks shipped.

Most reccent, Star Wars Miniatruess AT- AT for £20, just because it wasn't boxed. I think the main reason I got away with it was he listed ship to UK only.

Either the time I got an entire 1980/90's metal dwarf army (about 150 figs inc all of the white dwarfs and regiments of renown) for about £60 on eBay
or in store when I picked up about £80 worth of 30% off FoW stock at hobbycraft and the checkout girl accidently put the 30% off code on again.
(or any transaction with GW mail order when they balls up and you get the same stuff again!)

When GW went bananas and started passing out C&D's like chiclets, a lot of people were pretty fed up with them.
One fellow was so angry that he gave me all of his GW stuff. The majority of which was LotR stuff (score for me since it is about all GW is good for IMO).
He sent me a list and asked me to pay shipping. The shipping cost me a couple hundreds dollars.
Pretty steep shipping huh? Well considering that it had nearly $5K worth of unopened (and much of it was OOP) GW product...I wasnt shocked by the shipping cost anymore.
It took several months to receive it, but I got thousands of dollars worth of GW stuff for free. Just had to pay shipping.
The sad part about all of this is, is that one would imagine nearly $5K worth of GW product being delivered in a refrigerator box, but that value of product really doesn't take up as much room as one would think or hope. Still it was beyond a reasonable doubt the best score I have ever gotten.
All I had to be was in the right place at the right time.

Hmm...I got two trashed rhinos for free from a buddy who got them for $1 each from a bitbox I think. After using spare bits from a rhino box and a bit of hotel key-card they're both looking pretty slick and usable.
Otherwise I have decent luck with E-bay. Just got two new boxes of Daemonettes for $15 a pop, shipped.
Gotten lots of good deals through the swapshop here as well. There's some really nice folks who are happy to toss things in. Several times have opened a box to discover they added a few minis or things as a bonus.

The best deal I have got was someone selling his IG army, I got 2 Medusas ( with FW turrets) and a Valkyrie from him for $40. I also got 2 guardsmen w/ meltaguns and 7 guardsmen w/ plasmaguns from him for $5. He had already sold 4 Leman Russ tanks, a Manticore, and a Chimera to someone else for $60, but I was happy that I was able to get the plasma and meltaguns that I needed from him for cheap.

Great deals batman!
Almost all my purchases fall into the great deals catagory, as I buy used and almost never pay more than 35% of retail for anything, but a few standouts at least in terms of % were.
-Trollbloods mage $.50 (was in a bag marked bits)
-CAV rulebook and Journal of recognition $2
-Battle For MaCraage. 12 bucks.
-1250 points of IG along with a bunch of extra marines and random figures and a massive bits collection for $100. The bits were the real jem, I used them as trade bait for 5 years and probably turned them into 100-200 bucks worth of stuff.
-For me the real deal comes in the trade or resell. Buying something you know is a great deal b/c it will finance something you really want.
-2 bucks of Legions of steel figs flipped for $25
-Spending 20 bucks at an auction and then spending 20 bucks more b/c that one $20 item will resell for more than the 40 total you spent = free stuff!
Like (I suspect) many of the folks above, at this point I'm trying to make my hobby just about pay for itself.
