meh, not impressed, not that great as a terrain piece from a functional point, its gonna cost a small fortune guaranteed, and its more of a display base.

I really like this. If GW and FW keep releasing new RoB game tiles, then I might break down and buy me one.

I'm betting it's another joke

if it's not....... is that whole thing gonna be resin? And cost $300 for 1 tile?

$100 .. yuck :( But I may have to invest. It'd be nice if it would come with 1 extra normal tile too, so you don't end up with an uneven amount of squares.

I do not believe this to be an April Fools joke as it was announced alongside the Eldar Wraithseer and Corsair's.

Realm of Battle Gameboard Imperial Strongpoint Expansion
An exciting new addition to Forge World’s finely detailed resin scenery range is the Imperial Strongpoint Expansion. Designed for use with the Citadel Realm of Battle Gameboard, this 2' by 2' tile is a superbly detailed fortified stronghold that will make a great feature for armies to fight over in your Warhammer 40,000 battles.

Comprising a power generator, two reinforced defensive positions, dragons-teeth tank traps and huge, armoured blast doors dug into a central hill, the Imperial Strongpoint Expansion is cast from a hollow resin as durable and sturdy as the plastic Realm of Battle Gameboard tiles available from the main Games Workshop range.

Perfect for representing critical objectives such as a command and control facility, or a fortified artillery pit, the Imperial Strongpoint can be used in games of Planetstrike as a unique Bastion or to represent a huge variety of stratagems, strategic assets and other rules in Battle Missions, games of Apocalypse and other Warhammer 40,000 battles, not to mention the Games Day Armies on Parade competition.

Exclusively available at the Forge World Open Day on Sunday 3rd April, prior to its main release date later this year, the Realm of Battle Imperial Strongpoint, designed by Stuart Williamson, costs £60.

I like this direction, there could be a lot of great ideas for additional tiles in the future.

But, as someone already stated, expect to start seeing these all over the place as tournament display bases for pretty much every army of the Imperium.

Don't care. Fantastic piece, and highly thematic for Guard.

But it just makes me keep thinking about Echo Base and how a Snowtrooper themed Guard army breaking down the doors might look

THats a pretty badass piece of terrain.. Considering how totally absurd FW usually prices their terrain at.. 100 usd is pretty good for a 2x2 section..

Much better than the usual 50$ for a bunker

It's a joke. There's no way they'd waste that much resin and only charge 60 GBP.

Sorry guys

Its totally inconceivable that FW would have access to GW's realm of battle schematic and plastic casting!

Not something that I'd buy but it does inspire me to make some more spackle/foam terrain.

Never thought of having the bunker recede into the hill like that.... should be quite doable and substantially cheaper.

Also, look at that concrete block in the top middle. It looks like its just waiting for some kind of square based turret system to fill the gap there...

very cool looking piece. the price is on the high side but it is forgeworld so not unexpected. if it were priced at $50 USD, i'd get one even though i don't have a ROB board just for a tourney army display board but $100 puts it for me clearly outside of an impulse buy with limited use.

It's cool, but that table is awful. I had one for a while and it is a pain to use. The models just slide off the hills.

Does anyone know if this will come unpainted or if it's akin to the old "Chapel of Sanctuary" which came painted. Not that it wasn't nice and all, I just don't think this piece will fit that well with our black ashen landscape

Did you paint yours? We have had no trouble of that sort after we painted it. Except with very top heavy models, but thats usually solved by turning them so they face the other way around.

I love it , i might buy one of the just and then build a gameboard around it ,as i have no interest in buying a full price ROB.

Gorlack-i think it will be unpainted i doubt forgeworld would ever do anything preprinted.

Interestingly enough, that's exactly what I'm thinking. It shouldn't be too hard to incorporate this into an entire gameboard--it'll just have to be a corner piece though.

Man that's nice. I'm not sure how much I'd like a two foot brick of resin though; shipping would be astronomical and it would be fragile as hell. I'm drooling over it either way though.

Don't think of it as a "brick".

Think of it like the resin terrain pieces that GW used to sell--because that's what it looks like it will be. It explicitly stated in the email that "it's a hollow, resin piece".

Cool piece, but like the RoBG, way too much $$$ for what you get.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

hmm. I missed the hollow resin part... I wonder how hollow .. I'd hate to drop $100 on that only to have it arrive in pieces like a porcelain egg that got tossed bounced around a UPS truck top much

Yeah, even tried to use flock to add some grip. I used it for a few months and just sold it, couldn't handle it.

I also wasn't a big fan of how sharp the plastic was on the underside of the board pieces. Got a few cuts from picking up the pieces.

60 GBP is the set price right now.

Bunkers are 20 GBP (the old one with Heavy Bolters in it) to 21 GBP(the Krieg scenery piece is 21) to just 16 GBP for an empty bunker. There's two bunkers, albeit without tops, used in constructing that piece.
The trench system(which it looks like they used multiples of to make the walls for the strongpoint) is 35 GBP.
Tank traps are around 18 GBP each.

That's around 93 GBP in scenery bits alone, at least if you bought FW.

Could probably make it cheaper if you browse around, but eh. Dunno.
