I just finished my first conversion! Dreadnought to Deff Dread! I'm really pleased with how it turned out! Check it out:

Yeah that really works, very orky! Where does the pilot see out of though? Maybe drill holes in that glyph's "eyes" as peep-holes...

VERY nice work. The only issue that really caught my eye is that some of the wiring hangs unnaturally. To my eye, at least, there's an imbalance between the slack, curving sections near the gun and the taught, perfectly straight sections near the tanks. The CC arm's wiring is spot on, though. I want to see this sucker painted!

Thanks, all! I'm really pleased with it too.
I have to admit that I've never painted Ork walkers before so I'll probably paint my 6 kans first to get my technique down... Promise I'll post pics as soon as I finish.

It's floral wire. Great stuff available in different widths from any florist and it's dirt cheap. I drilled out shallow holes where both ends were to go and I bent the wire into shape before gluing it into place with super glue. Easy!
I got 20 gauge (I think), but it's a little thick. Experiment with different widths; again, it's cheap!

Very nice I didn't think the space marine dredd could be orkified but that's a nice job.

I scanned at this thread earlier without paying to much attention, I just thought 'that's a nice looking kustom deff dread' and went on my way.

I just read the Subject of the thread, looked at this time in detail. You've tied the Ork elements into the Dread so well I didn't even notice the first time, but once I took to the time to look it over I saw the Dread underneath the orkification. Bravo, job well done.

Thanks, all!

Any pointers on painting it? I just started painting my first kan yesterday. I'm leaving most of the black undercoat on, painting the metal bits in boltgun and tin bitz and painting armor plates in deff skulls blue, and then I'm going to black wash the whole thing then drybrush boltgun. What do you think?

sounds simple and that's what I think is the important thing with orkses a nice simple color scheme for the whole army that won't take too long for each boy you have to paint. finish your killer kan and post a picture.
