So...

You take 3 Dreadknights, replace the terminators piloting the Dreadknights with Broadside Battlesuits.
You take 6 Hammerhead tanks, and attach the Railguns on the Dreadknights shoulders...
You'll have to ''Tauize'' (<- correct term?) it a bit more to get the feeling, but that's the basic idea above.

I could swear that I read a piece of Tau fluff somewhere that stated that the tau were against building larger battlesuits because they saw it as a waste of resources...

Instead I suggest removing the suit inside a suit idea and just convert the dreadknight into a larger battlesuit.

Still would make an awesome conversion though!

In an Apoc game, if you fired them, You could gain the massive blast... All 3 at the same target though.

Here's what I came up with. There's some Tau in there, but I tried to make it very subtle because it's going to actually be used as a Dreadknight. You could certainly Tau it up more than I did, and I think Dread Knights would make awesome Tau Hammerhead tanks or Broadsides.

I think you could perhaps replace the "baby carrier" with the front plastic pies of a Tau Crisis suit. Would probably take some extra bits to make it look right.
