Ive seen the models on the GW website, and Ive got a few of them. However, I would like to make a more unique officer's mess in my army. Any ideas you guys have on parts to use, models to buy? Its a Cadian-based army, but show me anything you have, for inspiration's sake.

Actually, my officers all used regular cadian parts that I chopped together to make them look like the metal ones:

And my avatar, for example.

Anyways, if you wanted to steer away from this, how about breaking out the GS and giving them berets? A quick and easy conversion that lets them look mostly the same as their non-officer buddies, but still gives them that little bit to help them stand out.

Those certainly are good models, but i was looking towards more dynamic poses, if possible, like professional models... I may take up your suggestion, though, and see what I can come up with

You know there's a very, very good Cadian command squad box, right? You can do wonderful things with it. As for "dynamic" models, you can't have dudes doing pirouettes off rubble piles with it, but it's about as good as anything else. The metal commissar model that's charging with a power sword is probably the most dynamic IG model I can think of.

Yea, I used the Cadian command box to make a commissar, take the cloak and arm for the sniper, remove that entire arm and shoulder pad, and if you shave the shoulder pad in a bit on the right arm you are using it even looks like the cape is going over the top of the shoulder pad. And there's a few different ornate officers torsos on the sprue.

FW offers a number of nice officers and at this point there are nearly tons of plastic IG bits that can be mixed and matched to make a very unique character, I recently picked up a baneblade and that kit come with a really nice commander.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

My avatar is my IG HQ officer. I have some others in my gallery. I'd stay away from Forgeworld stuff as it's usually badly cast, extremely expensive for what you get, and breaks very easily.

1. It's not always badly cast. It seems hit or miss, but they'll at least replace what gets messed up.
2. Everything in this hobby is expensive for what you get.
3. Things won't break if you're taking decent care of them. Kind of a non-issue since most of us treat our minis with some care.

I do like your officer though, very SWAT team looking.

I would also recommend just picking up as many random Cadian bits as possible and coming up with a combination you're happy with. It often helps if you have a strong theme in your army that the officer can complement. I wanted my senior officer to be directing his troops from a distance, rather than being in the thick of the action (I use my CCS for fire support) hence a more static pose using the bits that Curnow suggested:

I always liked the Mordian Iron Guard Officer with the Chainsword, BP and big Cloak and peaked cap. I think he makes a nice Colonel model, or even a good Commissar Model, I really like the Catachan Officers too. Especially the ones sporting Berets. Nothing says Officer like not wearing a Helmet, and sporting a set of Binoculars. Its always good for the Ruperts and Henry's to put two fingers up at the Snipers (who inevitably spot them and kill them) but thats the job of an Infantry Officer, inspire, look good get dead.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

There are a few Non GW companies who provide heads, helmets and weapons that fit easily onto any IG. Forge World and Games Workshop also provide unique officers and bits that work well in making officers.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.
