OT: Quality reports mate, shame you got screwed over in game 3 though.
Im lucky thus far and have managed to have some pretty good games, nothing too bad yet.

Last year they had a (what at first looked like) nicely-converted Squats army which was specifically designed to cheat the LOS rules. Their low-skimmer Chimerae counts-as vehicles were mounted on different height flying stands, and were as wide and long as Chimerae overall, but part of that was narrow tail and wings, and they could functionally shoot through/past one another with both the turret and the hull gun. They got them approved before the event because the judges didn't realize how they would be used. This year the counts-as rules were specifically written to prevent that crap; if a substitute model gave a game advantage, it was to be played as the same dimensions as the official model.

They also are one of the only reliably documented cases of Chipmunking Sports scores I've ever heard.

However, cheating and BS only get them so far, glad that most of the dakka guys held off the top.

Most of the really serious teams in the team tourney build dedicated armies for it. Armies specifically built to execute a theme, match one another's bases, maximize painting scores, etc. Their Squat army actually looked really sweet. They had custom-made codices and all that cool stuff. It was really disappointing and saddening that they felt the need to cheat, sabotaging all that coolness.

Heh, I remember how cool that army was last year, though I didn't know about the cheating. Interesting though- also interesting that they had that reputation and still wore those shirts this year.

I played next to you in Round 3. He was being a jerk throughout that whole game, not just at the end of it. Sucks that a game of toy soldiers means so much to some people.

It's not that it means so much to some people. Heck, do you have any idea how many hours I invest into moderating this site? Aside from all the hours gaming and painting and traveling to events?

Taking it seriously and having it mean a lot to you are not excuses for that kind of behavior, nastiness, and dishonesty.

Sucks bro, almost as bad as the time this kid started crying when he realized his tau were fried by turn 4, lol.

Other wise i loved all the other reports.

Stuff like this is why I always use a turn-dice when I play. It is surprisingly easy to not remember what turn it is, and there is of course also this kind of crap, where it becomes your word against his.

Good report, too bad about TFG, people like that should be banned from the next tourney, especially if this is not the first time he pulls shenanigans

Well that is some good news at least.

I think as far as the judging was concerned (I was not there, but I know Xaereth IRL and can attest to his Gentlemanly approach to everything) I didn't think they gave Xaereth a chance to explain himself. With most people making a considerable time and monetary investment to attend events like this, you would think they would have judges who carry the balls to tackle these problems head on, especially with the aforementioned reputation of such 'clubs' as '3 foot 2'.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't know if their reputation is really as prominent as I may have made it seem. Maybe not, if they don't feel the need to change shirts yet. Overall I think the Adepticon judges are excellent. I don't know how many players or TOs are prepared for cheating this shameless and blatant. Xaereth clearly wasn't. I think overall it's probably says good things about our hobby that this level of misbehavior is so uncommon that it catches both players and TOs a bit flat-footed.

I am pretty sure I am saying screw sportsmanship scores and my tournament fees when someone calls me a d**k to my face.

Seems like problem people if this is not the first instance, maybe Adepticon needs to NOT let them sign up.

Ulven: Heh, thanks man. The guy was a tool, but happily didn't qualify for the 2nd day, he lost his 4th game by 15 VP

Which also means that I might not have won my next game, had it come down to that, sounds like they had a very close one.
