with the new GK plasma siphon, can it affect Tau pulse weapons? They are described as turning into plasma upon leaving the barrel. Also, does it only affect IoM plasma? because it only states the names of Imperium plasma weapons in the description. Especially since plasma isn't even a weapon type...Clarification please?

It reads "Models firing plasma weapons (including plasma pistols, plasma guns and plasma cannons)", so i say any thing with the word Plasma in its name. Tau Pluse weapons I say no. There not really plasma weapons and only the Rifle says it creates plamsa. Kind of dumb, since its a Ordo Xeno upgrade that effects IoM more then Xenos.

I would say it only affects Tau Plasma Rifles, ergo, Pulse weapons are unaffected.

A demon prince in the CSM codex isn't a demon, it doesn't have a rule that states it is a demon.

If we start going by fluff to determine if a weapon/shot/ect is "Plasma", something of which isn't noted at ALL in the BRB, then we have probably gotten something wrong.

The rule states three guns, those three guns are effected. Nothing else. Until FAQ... maybe.

I would assume that an executioner cannon or even a plasma blastgun would be affected, so I would go with any plasma projectile weapon. If you read the description and it fires plasma, I say it counts.

It'd help if we had a list to include them into really, going out of their way to mention to three weapons that were a no-brainer really did nothing to help.

They are described as firing solid rounds that transform into plasma upon impact IIRC.

I would say no then, as I imagine that the Ulumeatni Plasma Syphon would destabalise the plasma's magnetic field when it was fired. As they are solid projectiles they shouldn't be affected.

I just checked, it turns to plasma as it is leaving the barell...

Hmmm. I would probably come down on the side of the pulse rifle not being affected. That is only because in my mind the syphon is meant to stop the high strength, low ap plasma from butchering things. Not the best argument I suppose but that is how I would play it.

This is because the Grey Knights Codex(the same codex that this item of wargear is found in) has a lovely little box-out in the armory marked: "Plasma Weapons", and those 3 are the only ones in it.

Badrukk's gun fires unstable plasma canisters (the ammo from plasmaguns) but they don't explode until they hit...

Starcannon are eldar plasma-esque weapons, but aren't actually called 'plasma'

I think it is worth keeping in mind that the Grey Knight codex itself like sorta kinda define plasma weapons in their wargear section.

They have a seperate box called "Plasma Weapons", just like they have one for "Flamer Weapons" and "Melta Weapons" (with the Infernus Pistol mentioned).

Naturally the "Plasma Weapons" section only contain plasma weapons available to Grey Knights/Inquisitors and might not be considered an exhaustive list.

Anyway, I have no dog in this race. I just thought it was worth keeping in mind.

What about Eldar Plasma Missiles? Or Plasma Grenades, would they be able to use them?

W/ the plasma weapon box in the GK dex, I am pretty sure it doesn't JUST affect those, since the siphon belongs to ordo xenos, it just wouldn't make sense if it only affected the IoM's weapons.

The problem is that there is nothing else defined as a 'Plasma' weapon, there is no 'Plasma' weapon type past what are listed under the 'Plasma' heading in the GK codex. There are things called 'Plasma _____' but then we run into the Daemon Prince vs Weapons that affect Daemons issue, where the Daemon Prince is called 'Daemon ______' but does not have the Daemon rule that allows certain things to affect him.
