Here's the beginnings of my Riflemen dreadnought conversion for my new GK army. The first arm is done, one more to go. After that, I'm planning on attempting to cast it (rather than converting 3 sets of arms). All of the white material is plasticard, I took dimensions from a dreadnought arm and then just scratchbuilt the frame out of it. I use IG autocannons and a piece of a sponson for the guns, greenstuff rivets, and the inquisition symbol I sculpted myself.

The ammo feed was done using a cut up autocannon ammo canister, and green stuff I sculpted/formed to extend it into more of a belt feed with an entrance at the bottom of the shoulder.

Constructive criticism & comments appreciated!

That looks great. Effort is rewarded with a nice result in this case.

Thanks for the comments guys, always good to know folks are reading.

Quick update: Blank #2 was created this morning.

Important lesson: Don't start converting prior to drinking your coffee. I ended up finished off the next shoulder only to realize I'd made another left. I then carefully took it apart, sanded off the glue, and created a right out of it, pictured below. Lost about an hour due to my goof!

Love it, I got to do that myself!! They look even better than the fw ones =)
Are those autocannons from the ig heavy weapon squad and what is thicknes of the plkasticcard you are using?

Thanks!

The plasticard I'm using is 1/16th, another cheap option around plasticard (which I think is actually the same thickness, but check) is to buy for sale signs at a store. They're typically made from plasticard material and cost about 1/10th of the price.

The autocannons are indeed the IG heavy weapon team ones, I just cut it off where you can see in the pic, and the top most one I notched since I like the look of having the two cannons not the exact same length.

Update: Both arms are finished, and I'm beginning on the body. I'll be looking to cast these tomorrow, though im a bit worried about losing detail since I don't have a pressure or vacuum setup.

Just buy the Aegis Defence Line and use the Autocannons from it. That is what i am going to do.

It doesn't give the look I'm going for, and also, everyone else is doing it.

Mind you, that comment after I've finished the conversion isn't super helpful, lol But yea, It was a consideration, but after seeing it mocked up it just didn't suit my taste.

those are pretty awesome. Can we see them on a dread for scale of the barrels. usually the bigger the better!

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Finally found some time! These aren't the final fit, just a test using a dot of glue. After I cast these I plan to magnetize them to give it some range of motion. The dreadnought will also be getting a fairly extensive conversion, but that will have to wait a bit.

Any chance we could get a blue print? Maybe trace the parts on a piece of paper with the dimensions?

That is one of the best looking mock-ups. The arms really look like they belong to the kit.

I second the motion of the right honourable gentleman.

That conversion looks awesome. Very menacing and dramatic with the offset AC barrels.

Well done... I'm jealous I didn't think of something like that...

Awesome I like those better then the one I mocked up using an Aegis gun. The longer barrels make it look much better. Forge Rip Off rifleman looks worse then both Aegis Gun and Guard AC Conversions.
