How exactly does the RRF work? Do you need to be on at certain times, or is it just "Here's the target, take it out"? And, is it forum based, or do I need to install IRC again.

There's an IP-based limit for how many action points can be spent in a day, after all.
You're fine up to three characters:

Daily meet-up on IRC via Mibbit (so no installing IRC). Takes fifteen minutes or less. They have various subgroups which meet at different times and I think there are positions for people who don't want to meet up regularly. The reporting times are pretty flexible and nobody gets pissed if you sometimes miss (apparently, as I have missed).

You can hit the server up 160 times per day. That's enough to run 3 characters if all you do is log in, and use 50AP. If you keep logging in every 30 minutes to use another AP, you'll hit the limit really quick.
Fortunately, it's based on IP address. So, I hit the 160 limit while I'm at work, and then go home and continue. Haven't had to resort to my phone yet.

I ran in to it just with two characters the other day... My survivor now has 32 action points. As soon as I'm healed I should be able to make my way right to our safehouse. I should use my school's wifi for my zombie and save my home IP for my survivor.

I found a pistol with 5 bullets.
Shot a zombie and missed.
Beat the crap out of it with a hockey stick then ran out of actions.

I have two pistols, and three shotguns, I assume the (2) means the Shotgun has two rounds in it. Also have around six-seven extra shells and a clip, oh and two flare guns.
Not sure how much that will do for me, but better than to go down swinging with my fists.

Yes, the two means it has two shells in it. The shotgun is probably a breakopen double barreled shotgun as it only holds two shells. The pistol is probably a revolver too, with its six shots max (and using a clip instead of a magazine). If you can get a fire axe or a knife, that'd be good too, as knives are extremely accurate while fire axes are both accurate and powerful. Crowbars are good for taking down barricades, so they're also useful.

Revolvers are cooler anyway so I disagree.

I just can't imagine an English city in 2005 full of revolvers and breach loading shotguns and no magazine-fed semiautomatic pistols or pump shotguns. This leads me to believe that the creator did not know or care about actual firearms when attempting to design balance.

I think you may have the wrrong reason. That or the creator wanted smaller numbers of shots for survivor/zombie balance.

Also calling revolvers more cool is merely an idiosyncratic preference so the Rule of Cool does not really apply.

On the contrary, revolvers are plain and simply better!
Jokes aside, the debate is kind of pointless anyway, I'm just saying thatt given the information we have about the weapons this is what they likely are.

Yeah, it's the only thing that they could be if we're going to analyze Malton as if it were a real place. And I guess in a city full of flesh-craving animated corpses, having no semi-automatic pistols is hardly the least likely aspect of the situation.

THere's a revive point practically right next to me actually. http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/West_Becktown#Suburb_Map Pullin Square is really close to where I am (one block diagonal, one down). I can't use syringes yet, sadly. Tehre's tons of zombies here so I might jsut let myself die and then shamble up to a different RP point... I don't know if there's any survivors left that can revive.

I have a fire axe but only three HP :/ I scouted a square down to see how many zombies were near me and I was like OMGWTFZMGZOMBIES and ran the hell back inside. There were at least nine zombies near the square southwest of me, scattered across the other squares.

http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/West_Becktown#Suburb_Map Maggs Bank, on the north end of West Becktown. I had gone to St. Lazar's hospital, but it was boarded up and EHB, so I went to Whippey Fire Station and someone healed me... then zombie horde arrived and reinfected me (nearly killing me). So I hid inside of Maggs Bank, where I've apparently been ignored or unnoticed for about a day due to it being dark (and the door being closed, it's not fortified at all so I'm surprised I've lasted this long).
