So the kaskrin are usable as scions, the tank crew seem purely decorative and all the other stuff is just more variants of imperial guard stuff. The only thin that doesn't seem to have an obvious use is Lord Solar Macharius. I'm planning on using mine as a lord commissar

I think there are some relics that would be well represented with Machairus.
I remember thinking they did some artefacts with machairus model in mind, might have imagined it though, because Im not very familiar with either his lore or his model.

Machairus used to be a usable special character back in 3ed (and maybe 4th). He had the "old war wounds" rule that had roll for a few of his stats. The best thing about him was that he had a powerful energy shield that gave him a 3++ save.
Now a days you could use him as an IG officer, commissar etc.

You're right. One of the Heirlooms of Conquest is literally Macharius's sword

Negative, it is called the Blade of Conquest and belonged to one of his generals.
The greatest Imperial Guard commander ever to bestride the stars, Warmaster Solar Macharius reclaimed a thousand worlds for the Emperor. Upon his death he was enshrined as a saint; the six ornate blades of his subordinate generals laid upon the altar to his glory. Only one of these weapons has been reclaimed to active service. The Blade of Conquest is a beautiful example of bladesmithing, but its true worth lies in the authority it symbolises. Any man who wields this sword can light a righteous fire in the hearts of his men, for they fight in the shadow of Saint Solar himself.

Did I miss something? Why would GW put something new on their web site and not explain EXACTLY how it works? Yes I know for us who go on forums we have a good idea but for people who don't, they won't know what it is and can miss out. Has GW made a link or something on their front page to explain this? Maybe the Canadian site isn't updated yet, so I don't know for sure. I could have missed something out when I was on the New Zealand site.

Either way, they haven't blown the prices up stupidly or used finecrap for them.
So not a bad start.
Hopefully they keep this up through other ranges too.

Perhaps not the crews themselves but I'd pay good money for some themed Tank riders! I believe GW produced metal ones many moons ago before I was into Warhammer.

So I feel like the prices are not as unpleasant as we thought they were going to be. I'm not sure if this means they actually represent good value or just what we've come to expect in terms of rapey walletness from GW. I'll be grabbing a few items for nostalgic purposes, a lot of these models were new releases but out of my budget range when I got into the hobby as a naiive 10 year old
EDIT: So, helpfully it states the material as well. The tank crew look ace but are in finecast, so I'll be leaving them. The others I'm interested in are in metal, so that's fine. It's funny how we used to get excited about the prospect of leaving metal behind but thanks to failcast we are happy to have it back
I'm confused as to why a 2 piece Sly Marbo kit costs more than a 4 piece Techpriest Enginseer kit. Designer royalties? Seems unlikely.

That's the price the dart hit?
Nah the logic seems to be people might buy 2 or 3 normal characters but only 1 special so it gets a premium. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and thanks for that link!
I now see a made to order product category so it may just ahve been a time zone issue.

Other than saying these can take upto 28 days to deliver, and get them while you can the GW site doesn't explain this at all. There's certainly no mention of the rumoured 48 hour time limit talked about.
I'll make an order tonight just to be sure I get the valhallans I need. Happy with the pricing being at a sensible level, even if the variations between models is a bit odd.

Got this reply when I asked about specialist games and old Fantasy stuff.
Thanks for the email.
At the moment the made to order service is being tested, so I am afraid I don't have any information on what (if anything) would be next up. I will pass your email along though to make sure interest in more miniatures like this is registered with the people making the decisions.
I am sorry that I cannot be of more help in this instance but if you have any other questions, please let me know.
Kind regards
Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

I've been on and ordered macharius.
I hope that they'll release a steady flow of different models.
I've got a large collection of metal guard, 120ish Praetorian's amongst them. I for one would welcome them becoming more affordable and openly available again so I can see more of them smiting the filthy Xenos.
Would love it if necromunda, mordheim become available again as I was only a young lad when they were in production and sadly squandered my money on plastic orks/ Orcs.

i'd imagine it will happen sooner, but they need a solid bit of padding in case they get swamped
(also worth keeping in mind the 28 days is to ship so it wouldn't surprise me that you'd need to add another 14-21 days for it to get to countries in North America)

Why concerned? They're not sat in pick bins waiting to go out. They're made to order after the cutoff, and 28 days seems like a standard, outside, cover-your-ass-in-advance timescale. I'd imagine will be a lot faster than that.
