This is the "What's On Your Mind" thread, we are supposed to post what comes on our mind, whatever it may be (As long as it doesn't bother the mods). just my 2 cents.

Speaking of birthdays: Mine is the 13th of August..... which is a Friday this year....

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

ghosty wrote:@ Albatross. I don't agree. Obviously, im not at a point where I can look back and say "None of that mattered" but I can sure as hell point out the obvious. At school, you learn, and not just subjects. You learn how to deal with social situations, how to talk to girls (it doesn't come natural to some people) you essentially 'grow up'. Soooooo, even though the subjects themselves pale before the doom and gloom that you are portraying, there are still valuable lessons to be learned.

My hero - white knight to the rescue! Yeah, none of that stuff matters. Learn the subjects, pass your exams, get to college... that's when the worthwhile stuff begins. Everything else is just teenage drama.

And secondly, and less restrained, that was a completely rude dick like thing to say. What gives you the right to talk to LLF like that?

And what gives you the right to talk to me THAT way? Oh, that's right - The Internet. You wouldn't have called me a dick to my face, guaranteed. What I said to LFF is exactly what I would have said to his face. He needs to knock the self-pity off, in my opinion. It would do him the world of good.

And no hard feelings

Maybe not on your side, Spartacus.

Edit: Oh I see it was directed at me. Fair enough, I do need to stop whining. Besides, everyone forgetting my birthday isn't anything out of the ordinary.

Sarcasm doesn't travel well if you forget to use orkmoticons.

I wasn't having a massive go at you, I've just noticed overtones of self-pity in well, pretty much every post you make. I'm just giving you a heads up, you are obviously free to ignore me. I AM just words on a page after all. That said, how's your life? Is everything working out exactly as you want it to? Do you have a lot of friends, or maybe even a small group of really close ones? Are you happy? If the answer's 'yes', then cool, don't listen to me. Feel free to think I'm a dick - you wouldn't be first and you sure as gak won't be the last. But if the answer to any of those questions is 'no'... perhaps you might want to explore why that is. It's up to you. Like I said, I'm not trying to attack you, just trying to be a good bloke. Sometimes one has to be harsh in order to shock people from their reverie.

Im not one to start a flame war Albatross, but I feel I should assess your reply.

Firstly, as you said again, school doesn't matter. I think, you might need to reconsider. Simply, if someone stopped going to school at ten, and then proceeded to do jack all until they're 18, they probably wouldn't be that successful. They might not be emotionally developed, for example. Of course I have very little illusions that you will care what I think, as its perfectly clear you have already made your mind up.

Secondly, your probably right. I wouldn't speak to you that way if we met face to face. But then again, I don't generally speak like that at all. I don't really feel the need to be blunt with people to get my point across. Again, I doubt I would be able to sway your opinions either way.

And thirdly. Im not sure I understand your post about spartacus. Typing this will invariably get a response mocking me for being naive. Of course, it could be suggesting that you might dislike me, which is fair enough, but I bear no grudge against you. If it was anything else, I would love to hear from you, but I feel if we continued this conversation on this thread it might spin out of control, and mods would lock it down. And in the end of the day, I would prefer to let you have the satisfaction of being 'right' than getting this thread closed.

So, if you do wish to continue said conversation, shall we keep it in the PMs?

The girl I've been to tell you the truth in love with for the past 2 years walks up to me at lunch when no-ones around, and pushes something into my hand. She said she heard me mention I needed him and so went into the store full of 'weirdos' to get him. She smiles at me then runs off. I look down and see a Thyphus blister pack in my hands-on the back are written the words "happy birthday", with a smiley face.

Made my day, all I'm sayin'.

That's pretty sweet. I'll admit it.

Terrible birthday though. Nothing from your parents?

So my cat loves me. (Apparently.)

I'm sitting on the back deck reading a book, when he runs out an drubs up against my leg. Then after about a minute he runs off into the yard.
Fifteen seconds later, I feel dull thump, and then a weight on my foot.

He dropped a lovely little squirrel on my foot.

I don't know wheter to be mad or laugh.

Work has tightened up their internet policy to prevent 10,000 employees logging on to watch the World Cup footy all at once.

Despite England crashing like a Gary Glitter comback record for Save the Children this policy is still in place and I can not access Dakka at work.

Bored and in desperation I have tried various other 40k sites and the only one that works is Whineseer.

I fell dirty and a bit lame and at least 2% less intelligent than I was when I woke up this morning.

Hmmmm..... 40K intanets cold turkey for a few weeks or embrace my new station and lurk there [or god forbid open an account].
