Mantic seems to be busy not only with their new orcs, but their army deal stuff for Salute. 3 each for their x3 main plastic lines. And then theres the Drakon riders but they're pricey and look really, really funny. News is news though

So the big day approachs and we’ve been hastily building up a load of stock including some very cool Army Deals which you can get your mitts on during the day. These Army Deals are some of the biggest we’ve done yet (the largest Undead one has over 350 models in it) and we felt like you should be able to pick one up, even if you’re not at Salute!

So, we’ve now listed the contents and details of the nine Army Deals that will be available at Salute (and you’re going to have to hurry as these are in strictly limited quantities) on the website so you can get planning what it is you want! Hot on the heels of last month’s Elf Army Set and Elven Archers comes a new monster mount for the Elf Army – the Drakon. These draconic creatures are smaller cousins of the Dragon, though more fiery and agressive. In times of conflict, mighty Lords will take to the skies on these fearsome beasts, whose large jaws spew fire over enemy formations or wrap around the necks of the monsters that align themselves with the forces of evil, tearing and ripping out their throats.

Wow the dragon riders suck. I usually like mantic stuff too. The riders look like they are humping the dragons necks!

I love these! They are so awkward and goofy, like squig hoppers. I imagine the elf facing right is saying to the others:

"Can we get off these things now?"

It looks like the elf equivalent of humans riding an ostrich: possible but absurd.

I'm glad that someone is embracing the old, silly spirit of early Warhammer. I hope that was intentional. If not, WTF?

Wow, those are just painfully stupid. Then again, all of Mantic's elves are either lackluster or lame. They're at least consistent in their skilllessness.

Eitherway these are shabby to say the least, even in a comical, cartoony way they just fall so short of the mark they never left the start.

I saw the drakons on mantic's site and I winced.
I mean if WOTC can manage this:

in their crappy rubbery plastic range, for a lot cheaper, surely mantic could come up with something a bit better than the fearsome Goose Dragons on the West?
