Hello, I have a small daemon 40k army and I've been considering grabbing the WHF codex and giving it a shot. However before I spend money on this I was wondering if the units I have can make a decent list.
I am not looking for very competitive lists, just a sample list that would be decent given what I have, or any suggestions on what I would absolutely need to buy to run a list.

Here's the stuff I have that works for WHF :
1 Fateweaver
1 Great Unclean One

3 Flamers
3 Bloodcrushers

10 Pink Horrors
15 Bloodletters
16 Plaguebearers

Can anything be done with those?

PS. how do you guys that play both handle the bases? I have round bases in mine, and am considering getting some of those special movement tray with round slots, but are those legal? They would propably lead to larger unit footprints compared to the square bases...

well for the bases the regular 40k base is the same size as the 25mm base of the bloodletters and plaguebearers but for the horrors and slann you need smaller bases, well with your list i would get slannesh stuff since in fantasy they are a lot better then 40k(sorry dont have my army book with me so i can't make anythin right now)

by slanessi you mean Seekers or Demonetees? I'd rather avoid demonettes, as I have enough troops for 40k, but I would definately concider getting a set of Seekers if you guys think it would work.

For the bases, how about if I just bluetack the PH on the back of a movement tray made for the smaller bases? If I pack them real tight on the back flat side of the tray, it would be equivelant size to a normal based unit using a normal tray(since trays make units slightly wider. Would that be acceptable?

I could do the same with the bloodletters, but I guess that would produce a unit of same size with the PHs.... how do people reconcile the size increase that comes with trays, do you rule that if one units uses trays, all of them must?

What i have seen be really effective is what my friend does 60 ish blood letters in 2 blocks with a herald 2 sets of 2 fiends a blood thirster some sort of magic caster dont know off the top of my head and a block of 6 blood crushers.
The fact is you will need to buy more troops for fantasy because especially for daemons you want bigger blocks to hold the line because of daemonic instability so you really want that rank bonus.
Get fiends over seekers fiends are absolutely nasty they are fast they hit hard and they will tear up archers and war machines and small units that are lurking around.
For the bases I suggest get the lord of the rings trays that way you wont have to do any gluing and saves you alot of time.
For larger things figure out what base they are supposed to be on get plastic card cut it to size then make it look like the lord of the rings tray as in have a circle the size of the round base in the middle and make the rest raised so its level with the round base (sorry if that sounded confusing I just dont know how to explain it any other way.)
If you want wider trays chop up the lord of the rings trays and glue em together how you want them and I think you can figure out what i mean I hope.
But you definitely want a big block of blood letters they are really effective and give em a herald so they re roll to hit.
And 3 more blood crushers you will see how nasty they are.

Dear god, WHF is one expensive game. I may have to postpone getting into that if we are talking 30 and 60 strong squads.

well its because of daemonic instability so that your blocks dont all die as fast haha thats why i started warriors of chaos soo much cheaper.
Im sure there are other ways of playing daemons but the only successful one that I have seen is was well 2 big ol blocks of blood letters the 6 blood crushers 4 fiends blood thirster and a caster guy and blood letters hit pretty hard.
