Hello Dakka, long time lurker first time poster here.

My mate and I have got a Grey Knight vs Chaos Marines game coming up and we've come across an interesting dilemma...

His original question was to what units the special rules for NFW and Preferred enemy applied to Daemons. This was easily figured out with the fact that any Daemon with the Daemon special rule would fall under that- that was a no brainer. Now we come to other units with the Daemonkin special rule and we wonder it this would count as Daemons? Finally, we come to Daemon Princes, they do not have the Daemon special rule in their entry, so what would you count them as?

Chaos marines?

None.

If you two want to work out between each other whether your Daemon prince, any Summoned daemons, or any other unit in your codex counts as Daemons, that is just fine.

As of right now the only units that we know are Daemons for sure is any unit in the Chaos Daemons codex(maybe not the Soulgrinder, I do not remember it it has the daemons special rule, or any other rule that declares it to be a daemon), and the Eldar Avatar.


p.s.; this is a bit of a Sore spot for many Dakka users; you may want to ask the mods for a preemptive lock on this thread, before the Various factions come out to yell at each-other.

As Kel says - contentious subject. Strictly, rules wise, ONLY those models with the Daemon special rule are daemons.

yea, chaos daemon codex and eldar avatar are the only ruled daemons.

When they mean deamons, I agree they are referring to special rule: deamon.
