By my title I mean, did Charles and Di's seperation, as well as Andrew and Fergie, just kill off that glorious fairytale pageant that is the British monarchy from a foreign viewpoint?

All I knows is, my aunt in Germany doesn't give a hoot and claims nobody does, unlike with Charles and Diana (it appears that him marrying her clone didn't make them happy either)

I usually watch some of it, if only because British royalty tend to create a unique brand of celebrity gossip that is far more entertaining than the American run of the mill.

I always find it odd how this is such a huge deal (well more of a huge deal) in America than it is over here. Any explanations or insights into that?

I didn't care about it before or after said event. The tragic loss was, as noted, tragic... but the personal lives of royalty in a foreign nation is not my business to pay attention to.

It is very popular here in the tabloid media, but honestly, I could care less.

The entire royal family is a waste of time and money. This wedding is no exception. I feel sorry for the British folk who actually support that family with their own tax dollars.

Up here in St. Andrews, I was more annoyed with the fact that the entire frigging town shut down during their visit, and we're getitng swarmed with William and Kate merchandise. Frankly, I don't care, but we've got a lot of students here who DO care quite a bit....so yeah. Eh, I get the day off school. Alcohol!

I'm not British. The marriage of a figurehead head of state representing an old and outmoded form of governance in a country that I don't live in or have particularly heavy contact or interface with doesn't interest me.

I think the older generation are more old fashioned and rather like the wedding idea, my American missus family are watching for example, but regarding the article, In a nutshell, the overwhelming majority of the British people are more than happy with the current system, and are happy with the Royals, but dont really care one way or another, and Im happy with that, I feel pretty much the same. I like the Royals, but they arent personal friends of my family so Im not arsed either way.

I really really hate the Republican class warriors though, Id rather take Camilla to the prom than spend one minute talking to the smelly, disrespectful anarchist little oiks.
