Hey all,

I set a dozen orks in simple green for a week or two, and the paint still won't come off. Any ideas about why this is, or a different product that won't damage plastic or glue?

Thanks,
DaBestestKlan

The Orks got to Antiga when my Warboss didn't like the look of the planet floating above his moon, and thought he should teach it 'Not ta stare at da Orkz!'

From what I understand, Simple Green only loosens the paint, you need to add a little elbow grease to finish the job. Get a stiff bristle tooth brush, and scrub the loosened paint off the minis.

Someone today suggested to me LA's Awesome, and said it won't damage plastic models.
Apparently it's dollar store cleaner but works great.
I'm going to try it in another day or two.

Are you sure it's standard acrylic paint? Did you dilute the Simple Green? I use the stuff at full strength with no adverse effects on the plastic. Sure, there are some trouble spots that need to be picked at with a pin or a toothpick, but most of the stuff sloughs off with a simple rub of the hand/toothbrush.

Last model I stripped was a Rhino and the paint was literally peeling off in sheets after a night's soak. The primer, however, was a bit more resilient. I'd give the models a closer look, as it seems more an issue of the paint than the product. If SG can't handle it, you may need to resort to harsher products that risk damaging the models.

Using it right now. Metal models. Soaked for like 15 minutes. Paint's sloughing right off, using a toothbrush to get the rest off. Even took off the tarnish from the metal.

Will see a little later how it works on plastic.

Just the all purpose simple green? or is there a specific kind to use?
(I noticed they have a bit of variety!)

I didn't dilute it and I let them soak for a few days. I'll try LA's Awesome.

Forgot to update.

After like an hour it still sort of clung to the plastic.

Overnight a toothbrush took it off pretty well.
