Hey guys i am starting a campain with some friends and im makeing a custome character ( army being grey knights )
my said character will be a lone grey knight who has immense psycic ability ( almost unstoppable )
he will be "blind" but uses his psycic ability to see his enemys in the warp ( like the purgitation squads do with astrial aim )
he will be like a mephiston in terms of strength but will be directed more to ranged psycic attacks than combat
and he will be very resistant to things like shadow of the warp and runes of warding

My question is ... is this really horrible and against the 40k nature i am posting this cuz i dont wana be another matt ward

dude you can do whatever you like with the world of 40k its your call,at the end of the day your not writing a codex for sale in gw are you.

I would advice against giving him higher than marine strength and toughness, Mephiston got his supererrr..superhuman physical prowess from defeating the Black Rage and turning into something...more...
Other than that it sounds like it could be an interesting custom characters, Grey Knights are after all powerful psykers.

With resistant to anti psyker stuff I suppose you mean something like etc. ignore their effect on a 4+?
While that could be put into game keep in mind that those are things that effect every psyker and are different in their origin, so putting a "blanket rule" to cover up the counter for psykers(other than killing them like everything else that is...) could end up turning him into a possible fluff abomination.
While powerful characters are fun to envision, its usually best to keep things simple and leave a gap or two in their armour just to avoid creating a "semi-invurnable because he is so awesome" character.

Keep him with the basic marine stats of 4. he could have a higher BS and WS.

GKs already have Psychic Powers that buff Str.

hmm maybe i should clarify
@ the mephistion thing. what i meant when i said " in terms of strength" was that he is going to be "overpowerd" ( not saying mephistion is ) but in a way he wont be
for example he will have his few uber psycic attacks but he is also not going to be an IC ( accualy im createing the guy and will be attached to a dreadnaut base)
and is also going to have slow and purposefull ( representing that his vision in the warp is limited )

@the resistant to shadow and runes. i was acually thinking of he always rolls 2d6 for psycic tests .....is that to much??

Only rolling 2d6 for psychic tests regardles of conditions is good and fluffy.


What are the exact stats he's ending up with?

his stats will prolly be along the lines of a Grandmaster psycic master 3 but with a few extra wounds
he will know quicksilver warpwrift hammer hand astrial aim and the summoning

in addition he has a SHOOTING attack ( donk know what to call )
He is useing his psycic might to effortlessly ( i mean that as literal as possible ) bend the warps
energys to his will in different manners
represented as
attack one ( lightning )
S5 AP 4 assault 8 32"

attack 2 ( warp rending thing simmilar to vortex of doom )
S 9 AP 2 Heavy 1 32"

attack 3 ( similar to attack 1 but a little different )
S 10 AP 1 Heavy 2 48"

Yes.

For a start, he's an example of one of my three most hated Player-Character archetypes: the disabled warrior who refuses to be healed for OOC reasons. If you wanted to fix the character, say he was once blinded in battle and so was forced to develop his Astral Aim ability, but then got bionics when the opportunity presented itself.

I also dislike any custom character whose defining feature is that he's more powerful than the canon special characters.

+1. It's your army. Your fluff can be ass off-the-wall or as anti-cannon as you like. Because it's yours.

Right. But that doesn't make it good. You could make your super uber special snowflake that is better than Draigo, but it doesn't mean it is good or cool or that your opponents won't think you are a 12 year old.
