Whilst @ Warhammer World, GW's Head Office in Lenton, Nottingham yesterday I managed to get a brief look at the upcoming May issue of White Dwarf. I didn't get to look for a long time however, so the information is pretty sporadic and somethings are already known to us or just go without saying. It's also limited to what I can remember, as I couldn't exactly sit down and take notes, although I do have a couple of very interesting tidbits that are very interesting.
Obviously as we know it's a Tomb Kings issue, so it advertises the new models with the prices, but it also shows the new Tomb Kings Batallion Box. Not sure whether this has been confirmed anywhere else yet but if not then I can confirm that the price advertised in WD is £70, however as far as I could see in the brief glimpse look I got, the contents of it were not shown.
The battle report obviously featured Tomb Kings, and although I can't remember for definate I seem to think they squared up against Warriors of Chaos, though this may well be wrong. As much as I didn't want to (as I like reading the Battle Reports myself without knowing the outcome) I Accidently saw the result, well the winning side and not the margin or final scores. If you'd like to know the outcome then see below.
There were some army lists for TK and O&G, and the painting guides were for TK's with how to paint different varieties of Skeletons and their armour. There were also some cool different paint schemes for the Necrosphynx and Warsphynx and how they were achieved. The painting schemes & guides are not just for models either, there seems to be a section devoted to the painting of a desert themed ROBB with matching scenery including the Throne of Skulls and how they achieved the looks they did.
Obviously the usual Standard Bearer was in there although not sure of the subject, and then pictures and prices of some of the TK direct order range which is currently still available.
Finally, and to me the best and most interesting part of the fleeting glimpse I got of the latest issue, was when I turned to the inside of the back page (which I will admit was the first thing I did! ) The artwork is of either a Razorwing Jetfighter or a Voidraven Bomber, however it looks more like the Voidraven in my opinion. And the text reads "Next Month - Wartorn Skies! The Dark Eldar descend from the Skies in a raid on Realspace!" Im pretty sure there words were to that effect, if not then they are pretty close.
So that's everything I can remember, I hope that's of interest to the Dakka community. The 'Next Month' part confirming Wartorn Skies is very interesting, whether it's referring to the possible Summer of Flyers expansion and confirming the name, or whether it's just a teaser for the upcoming DE releases on the 10th and the 24th June is anyones guess. Although I would be surprised if they advertised Summer of Flyers with just DE artwork and a DE release, even if it is a Flyer. However I guess it does confirm 1 thing, the upcoming DE waves will contain either a Voidraven or a Razorwing, possibly both! Stranger things have happened!
Anyway that's all from me, hope you guys find this of some use!

Hm. So for Dark Eldar, probably a Razorwing/Voidraven kit? Or are they too different for the same kit? Hopefully Venoms come, too, I know a lot of people will buy those.

Why? We're talking about a White Dwarf article with some new Flyer rules. A piece of artwork of the newest flyer (and presumably the reason the rules are in that particular issue) makes perfect sense.

Are we? I wasn't aware that it had been confirmed as a WD release with rules in WD only. Who's to say it isn't going to be like Storm of Magic in WFB? My point is, that if it is an expansion for all armies, then the artwork would be more general to appeal to all players and not to alienate anyone who isn't interested in DE.
That's just my opinion anyway.

Cheers buddy If I thought I could make a few quid doing it then I would!
To be honest though, knowing that it's appreciated is good enough for me.
As for the Necrons, as soon as I know something which hasn't been posted anywhere else (as far as I know at the time though) then I'll get it out there. I try to never post anything which needs too much salt, and if I do then I'll always make sure to let people know that it's by no means a hard & fast genuine 100% bit of information, which unfortunately some people seem to do.
I'll always try to make sure that the stuff I post is actually news and has a valid source, not just overheard conversations or stuff thats been told to someone by a GW store manager etc. It might mean that I don't post news as much as some others, but you can be sure that if I've posted it as News then I believe it to be worth getting out there. Quality control if you will
If I do post something like my 'Missing armies from the Hall of Minatures' thread, then I'll always try to make sure that it's not labelled as news as such, more of an observation and opinion. Sometimes people get things confused, and post their opinions as news, purely because they really want it to be true.
Anyway, hope the news has been helpful to everyone and long may it continue!

Yes, 40K Expansion: Wartorn Skies will be an expansion supposedly done as a White Dwarf Expansion similar to Spearhead however will have actual models released with it.
Wartorn Skies is the working name for the expansion and will likely be kept, but as its a White Dwarf expansion, they can easily change it out before going to the printer...

Devils advocate eh? Lol
That's cool, I was aware that Wartorn Skies had already been reported but not that it was going to be a WD only release, so thanks for correcting me on that. I suppose one could say that neither the name or the rules being in WD have actually been confirmed, although it's certainly looking this way now.
I'm still wondering why the last page of the next WD makes it look like a DE release month, if it's for an across the board 40k expansion. I suppose it kind of makes sense if DE are the only army getting a new Flyer kit in this issue, but I guess I kind of thought that with an expansion such as this, there would be flyers for more armies than just DE when the ruleset was released.
Like lots of new monsters have been announced for Storm of Magic in Fantasy.

June features the 2nd wave of Dark Eldar including at least one new flyer model (and "ground troops" like probably Talos/Chronos and Venom).
The WD includes the rules for the WD expansion "Wartorn Skies" including stats for several Forge World flyers.
A nice way to celebrate the release of the third (and fourth?) GW flyer model after the 2nd one in February (Storm Raven).

Because the fact that only Dark Eldar are mentioned means that only Dark Eldar are in the expansion. The Dark Eldar flyers need something to shoot at which could be any number of opposing flyers or AA kits. Smart money is on the Hydra (cuz IG model releases are like printing money) and either another flyer like the Thunderbolt or Ork Fighta Bomma. I suppose a Whilrwind Hyperios upgrade sprue a la Deffrolla isn't preposterous but Whilrwinds are so unpopular they may not bother.

It says nothing about Wartorn skies.
Sorry to OP.
It Says at the back of May's WD "Murderous Skies, The Dark Eldar Surge into realspace."
Which is more likely that it is about the next Dark Eldar wave release.

I still fail to understand exactly why they haven't done a plastic Thunderhawk yet. With the clever engineering seen in the Baneblade/Stormlord and Stompa kits, combined with the trend towards flyers, I don't honestly see what the holdup is on making a plastic Thunderhawk. Sure the price of the Forge World one means some nice profit when they sell one but the model is so expensive and the quality of the old molds is so poor that they can't be selling enough of them to be happy. A plastic Thunderhawk at the $200 or even $250 price point would still sell by the boatload. If the Baneblade chassis and Stompa kits were hits enough to justify the stress on casting then a Thunderhawk must be well worth it too.
Oh darn look at that, I've just spoiled the thread even more getting carried away thinking of the joys of a plastic Thunderhawk. Apologies!

If the Baneblade chassis and Stompa kits were hits enough to justify the stress on casting then a Thunderhawk must be well worth it too.
Oh darn look at that, I've just spoiled the thread even more getting carried away thinking of the joys of a plastic Thunderhawk. Apologies!
First off, GW needs to sell all the stormravens and dreadknight they produced before going on with new flyers, Necron and Tau and stuff. Second, it would be shame to compare GW Stompa and BB-chasis kits with FW ones, as FW ones have much more accessible choices available than simplified version of GW.
