You might want to also go back and look at Apocalypse.
Your stance of them "not releasing a Dark Eldar flyer for a flyer expansion" is kinda silly with the point that I pretty much just spelled out at you.
GW has a history of doing "tie-in" releases with the bigger stuff. The Dark Eldar release will likely be larger than what anyone else gets--but so what?

They didn't exactly go out and spell "TANK VERSUS TANK" with Spearhead's promo picture. It was a Leman Russ Squadron, some Manticores, and Sentinels facing Crisis Suits and Hammerhead/Skyrays.
The leaps of logic you're taking here are pretty amazing. Spearhead was a release which was done as in its own slot, and announced as such. They didn't announce 'Spearhead - an Eldar release!' and then slip in a few other bits, they announced Spearhead, an expansion in which a bunch of factions got releases. I wasn't around for Apocalypse but I'm gonna guess that was released as 'Apocalypse this month, here's some kits for various factions as well' and not 'Apocalypse, a Space Marine release - btw here's an expansion we didn't bother mentioning as well.' Contrast this - it's a Dark Eldar release in which a single 'flyer' is appearing with a splash page whose title is kinda similar to a rumoured title for an expansion; as well as the Razorwing we're also supposedly expecting a bunch of other DE releases which have nothing to do with fliers or a summer thereof.
Actually, that's exactly what they did with Apocalypse. They showed the Baneblade and then went onwards.
The sheer desperation of the people who want this 'summer of fliers' thing to be real is honestly kinda pathetic. The marketing is nothing like anything else GW have ever done for an expansion, it explicitly names a particular race which has already been officially announced as being the release for June and about which we know plenty including exactly which kits are supposed to be coming out (which was passed on by consistently reliable rumour guys, not Stickmonkey), and literally the only connection to the 'summer of fliers' is that the splash page has a similar title and a 'flier' is part of the release. And yet even with all of this people are still going 'two more weeks' and insinuating that GW will change the habit of the past few years JUST for this release, honest guys, really.
Actually...it's exactly what they've been doing for these kinds of things. But I guess you'd know all about GW's marketing and how they have done it before, right?

You mean announcing stuff months in advance and then producing a splash page in White Dwarf? Is there an email or article on the website about an upcoming fliers expansion rather than one about Dark Eldar?

I should add that I have no real vested interest in seeing the expansion happen.
I have Apocalypse, I have all the Imperial Armour books, I have Planetstrike, etc. I can do whatever I want to when it comes down to 'unique games'.
But simply because they're advertising one thing doesn't mean that it won't happen. Automatically Appended Next Post: bhsman wrote:Actually...it's exactly what they've been doing for these kinds of things. But I guess you'd know all about GW's marketing and how they have done it before, right?

Do they do Incoming! articles about new Apocalypse datafaxes?
No?
With Black Library's recent move to eBooks--it's not too crazy to think that it might be released as a PDF rather than a White Dwarf article.

See judging from the threads I can find right here on Dakka it seems a lot like they announced 'here's an expansion for super-heavies and formations and other good stuff btw here's a Baneblade we'll be releasing with it', not 'here's a Baneblade btw there's also an expansion we won't mention'.
Actually...it's exactly what they've been doing for these kinds of things. But I guess you'd know all about GW's marketing and how they have done it before, right?
I've been following it for the last couple of years and the patterns are pretty consistent. GW sneak one in when it's something minor like the Animostiy Orcs or the very small DE Beasts release in GK month. An expansion with a bunch of big-ticker model releases? Not so much.

You can believe what you want, but I'll just keep hoping for a bloody Hydra kit and the guy I talk to regularly from FW to be right.
Sound good?

I think an affordable Hydra kit is something we can all agree would be wonderful.

I can pretty much guarantee that we'll see one, since I bought a Hydra Emplacement not long ago to paint up.

Aaaand we've gone full circle back to baseless wishlisting (that will be reposted on BoLS as solid fact by the end of next week).

bhsman wrote:Why does everyone keep using 'Wartorn Skies'? Was it mentioned anywhere besides the OP as misreading the text of the page or am I missing something?
See my post on page 1, also explaining the possible name change:
Kroothawk wrote:And Captain Ventris revealed the name and being a WD article on 20th march:
40K Expansion: Wartorn Skies-July(...)
Yes, 40K Expansion: Wartorn Skies will be an expansion supposedly done as a White Dwarf Expansion similar to Spearhead however will have actual models released with it.
Wartorn Skies is the working name for the expansion and will likely be kept, but as its a White Dwarf expansion, they can easily change it out before going to the printer...
Here the thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/342197.page
bhsman wrote:Pretend you've never heard of Stickmonkey or heard any rumors about a fliers expansion. Now look at that page. Do you still think it will somehow become a 40k expansion or does it look like a Dark Eldar 2nd wave?
If I heard "Murderous Skies", I wouldn't expect Wracks, Grotesques and a Chronos Walker
I would expect one or two Dark Eldar flyers, maybe Scourges and a focus on Sky battles. Then I would ask myself, who are Dark Eldar fighting in the Sky
We know we get a 2nd wave Dark Eldar in June, everything else can't be confirmed at the moment, so we have to wait.

First off, GW needs to sell all the stormravens and dreadknight they produced before going on with new flyers, Necron and Tau and stuff. Second, it would be shame to compare GW Stompa and BB-chasis kits with FW ones, as FW ones have much more accessible choices available than simplified version of GW.
They would probably sell more stormravens and dreaknights if they weren't such god awful ugly models !
Seeing the Dreadnight in person redeamed it a bit for me but I still am not in love with it lol

Yeaaaaaaaaah... um, why does anyone think there is gonna be an expansion? Because people on other forums say so? Let's be honest about most of the rumormongers for once.
Their rumors change as the product gets closer. Their original rumors are usually way off and even guys like Harry admit to this. Look at past rumor threads and see how wrong they can be. Hell, I remember the Beastmen one and the hounds with mutations rumor right practically as the book was coming out.
They basically seem to collect rumors and put them into their own, use deductive reasoning, etc. If they knew exactly what was going on, then their info would be exact on. People on the internet can say they know all kinds of people because there is no sense of liability or accountability.
Hell, this back splash page seems to debunk the Wartorn Skies rumor altogether. Posters were saying the page even say Wartorn Skies and it clearly doesn't.
The point is... don't believe anything until you see it. I often wish rumor forums didn't exist. *sigh*

Yup I'll hold my hands up and apologise guys, I was wrong. As I stated in the OP, I only got a brief glimpse at the mag and had to try and recall what I'd seen when writing the post, hence the reason it was so scetchy!
So when I tried to recall the exact text from the back page, my brain slipped in the word Wartorn instead of Murderous, wishful thinking maybe
Anyway, sorry to have confused everyone!
