... If you didn't need to get troops/Elite units?
I'm asking this because you could make a WWP list filled with empty transports having their insides reserved to come from the Webway.

That's a pretty cool 'out of the box' idea.
Yes, I would get transports just for the sake of having transports - as transports are excellent waepons platforms. Truth be told, in most lists I buy Troop slots to get the transports more than the men inside it - so if I wanted to do WWP I would probably do this.

a wrack unit can be just 30 points... transport can be that cheap.

I'm sorry to post a list on Tactics instead of Army Lists but this will reinforce my point:
HQ
3x Haemonculus - 3x Liquifiers, 3x WWP
Elite
5 Incuib - Klaivex - Venom with 2nd SC
5 Incuib - Klaivex - Venom with 2nd SC
5 Incuib - Klaivex - Venom with 2nd SC
Troops
5 Warriors - Blaster - Raider w/ Flickerfield
5 Warriors - Blaster - Raider w/ Flickerfield
5 Warriors - Blaster - Raider w/ Flickerfield
5 Warriors - Blaster - Raider w/ Flickerfield
5 Warriors - Blaster - Raider w/ Flickerfield
5 Warriors - Blaster - Raider w/ Flickerfield
Heavy
Ravager - Flickerfield
Ravager - Flickerfield
Talos - Chains Flails, Extra CCW, TL Heat Lance
Talos, Incubi and Warriors are kept on reserve. All Raiders, Venoms and Ravagers are fielded (haemons riding Raiders)
You start the game with 12 Darklight Weapons and 36 Splinter shots. WWPs are put around the table so the Blasters from your warriors can threaten any possible vehicles. Triple Incubi unit for massive punch, If haemonculus survives they'll join incubi for a 3+ armor and FNP.
Talos = Meat Grinder, nuff said.
This list should accomplish two things:
1. Mess up target priorization
2. Mess up strategical positioning (Incubi, Talos and Warriors are potentially EVERYWHERE)
Is this a valid tactic? Could this be the only way to be competitive using WWPs?

I am pretty sure dedicated transports need to be delployed with their units. Could be wrong as I see razor spam people doing the opposite all the time.

too many incubi. if your oppoenent is not meq they will be wasted
klaivex are also a huge waste of points. you could have another body for that price with more attacks and wounds
warriors with a blaster have a nice threat but not much in the way of shooting power. sure they can move and shoot 24" onto the board but how likely are they to actually kill whatever they shoot at?
I think wyches and beast swarms are far more effective in a wwp list. Beasts will rape any light armor within 19-24" of the portal the turn they arrive. 1 blaster cannot claim that.

Dedicated Transports don't have to be deployed with their unit, but if anyone is going to start embarked in them it has to be their unit. So unless the Warriors are also in the raiders the Haemy's will have to start on foot.

Re-read the Dedicated transport ruling. A Dedicated transport can start the game only with the unit its dedicated for AND one HQ.

Independent characters are considered part of the unit they're attached to when deploying, which is how an IC can deploy in a dedicated transport if it's attached to the unit that took the transport. It can't just up and say "I'ma deploy there" if there's no unit in the transport for it to attach to.

This is a good point, as it'll weaken Turn 1 deployment since you can't embark/disembark the same turn.
The easy fix is to still equip the portal carriers with a squad to ride with - a group of Wracks in a Venom works well and is very affordable.

IMO, Venoms w/ 2 SCs are worth taking regardless of whether or not they are transporting anything. Raiders I can live without, since I can probably replace their firepower with trueborn/scourges/reavers from a wwp.

If we're going this route we better decide which transport is best during the first three turns.
Do we need Venoms of do we need Raiders?
SCs or Dark Lances?
One could say we should fill the list with Venoms and put a lot of AT on reserve (Trueborns, Warriors, Haywire Wyches), and weaken to the point of Oblivion any kind of unmounted infantry.
Isn't Raiders better? You know, get rid of the tanks so our troops can deal with their insides once out of the WWP?

I'm actually of the alternate mindset.
What's coming out of the WWP is best for killing infantry usually - what needs to be done early on is destroying transports so there's stuff for the WWP forces to assault. I'd advocate Raiders as more useful - also, usually, what you want coming out of the WWP won't be small enough to provide Venoms in any case.

So the thing is getting a lot of Wyches w/o haywires riding Raiders.
Two or Three Taloi to tag along
Trueblasters as usual (but inside raiders, we don't have ravagers aight?)
HQ
2x Haemonculus - 2x WWPs, 2x Liquifiers
Elite
4 Trueborns - 4 Blasters - Raider w/ Flickerfield
4 Trueborns - 4 Blasters - Raider w/ Flickerfield
4 Trueborns - 4 Blasters - Raider w/ Flickerfield
Troops
10 Wyches - Hekatrix, Agonizer - Raider w/ Flickerfield
10 Wyches - Hekatrix, Agonizer - Raider w/ Flickerfield
10 Wyches - Hekatrix, Agonizer - Raider w/ Flickerfield
10 Wyches - Hekatrix, Agonizer - Raider w/ Flickerfield
Fast
4 Beastmasters - 9 Khymerae, 4 Razorwing Flocks
Heavy
Talos - Extra CCW, TL Liquifier, TL Heat Lance
Talos - Extra CCW, TL Liquifier, TL Heat Lance
Wyches, Taloi and Beastmasters reserved. All Raiders Fielded. Haemons ride the Trueborns. Theres 7 Dark Lances and 12 Blasters in turn 1. All first rounders. Wyches, Beasts and Taloi thereafter.

I would actually drop a Trueblaster to add a Ravager and haywires, personally.
