So I finally got all my Tau painted. It's been exactly 25 months since I've gotten them - the whole thing ran on with my old job, bad army painter spray and all sorts. (Not to mention getting married, moving to southampton and starting life anew!) but I was chipping away gradually. The tanks held me up until I got more confident doing marine tanks and now I present the Tau of the Fal'Shia sept. They aren't sexy, they aren't the best painted minis in the world (afterall the are a 'dip' army) but they are robust and there's lots of them!

PS: I think the tanks are still a bit shiny and need more matte varnish!

Without further ado my Fal'Shia Sept Tau:

Commander w/Cyclic Ion Blaster and Plasma Rifle

Broadside & Shield Drone

Carbine Commandos - they get the job done in CQB - killing marines and 'nids with impunity!)

Hammerhead chassis #320 & Kroot - Weapons interchangable on the hammerhead

Skyray, chassis #321, can be interchanged for a hammerhead

Pathfinders & Devilfish - note the custom rail rifles

Firewarriors - the fodder.. er backbone of the army

The Whole Army

Nice! i really like how the vents/missiles connect with the stealth suits. But could you not use a red blanket as the background for red models.

I attempted to spray in the bright Army painter red (but it came out pink and clogged some details on 2 tanks :() so it ended up being mecharite red + blood red, then blood red. It took a couple of coats of deneb stone. Then army painter quickshade.

I was prepared to not like red tau, but you've completely sold me on them. The cohesion between the whole army is great, and for me, the stealth suits are the stand out models. The accent of the blue you've introduced elsewhere, as mentioned, absolutely makes the army. Thank you for expanding my perspective on tau schemes!

Thanks for the nice comments guys :-) I did some calculations and I have over 2000pts (assuming I field a few basic upgrades)

I'm thinking of getting shadowsun and popping a plasma rifle on an arm to use as my Shas'O
