Im very interested in playing dark eldar. I love their fluff, the models and the space piracy! My question is are they competetive?
I have yet to fight the army so I am kinda leery... Also im a new player so I'm sure it will take me awhile to get the hang of it..

They are highly competitive.

They have some of the best assault units in the game, the ability to pack unholy amounts of lances AND poisoned fire into any list, are extremely fast, and have multiple ways to make sure they are going first.

They move like lightning, they hit like quicksilver. Yes, grab them.

10'000 years ago, Terra was under siege. The Sons of Rogal Dorn stood firm at the gate, never letting an inch slip away so long as we drew breath. We were killed in droves defending the Emperor and his Imperium, and we killed many in turn. We defended the Emperor and his Imperium, and this is what it means to be a Fist

yes. extremly so. they are a very well written book, and their fluff supports the rules and vice versa. however they are a glass cannon, and require some knowlege and skill to use. check out dash of peppers guide on how to use them for in depth explanations.

Oh my god yes. They're a finesse army and take some practice to use, but sheesh they're dangerous.

Dark Eldar have a learning curve during which you will be beaten, regularly, while you learn how to best use them, but they can really, REALLY deal out the hurt once you get the hang of them.

They also have some awesome looking models, which is what drew me in. I wasn't planning on collecting them originally, but the new look models were too awesome to pass up, and the codex's 'evil fey' vibe was way cooler to me than the 'torture porn on drugs' vibe they had before.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

They are incredabily productive.
They do have quite a learing curve, but once you get a hang of it, everyone will tremble before your might

The Eldar can be fun to play and can be quite devastating, but are extremely difficult for newbies to get the hang of as they require a certain amount of patience.

.....I demand a rematch dammit!

Yeah, Dark eldar can be a pretty diverse and powerful army, just don't expect them to be enduring against heavy fire.

They stand up against armies with heavy firepower just fine. By killing it all before it can shoot.

OP, check my signature for a valuable DE link with advice, some army builds, etc.
