Starting a night goblin army, so I thought... why not make em Smurfs of Chaos?

Here's my first test

Pretty quick to paint, spray em white, wash with badab black, drybrush with white. skin is ultramarine blue, black wash, ice blue drybrush.

wadaya think? worth doing a whole army of like 200 goblins like this? or will everyone laugh at me? (not the I'd care, but still)

My other idea is just a normal greenskin kinda night goblin army, but all with red hoods and they'd be the "Lil' Red Raidin Hoods"

that skin is epic!it would be worth doin an army dem cause night goblins are cheap an if you have enough of them it would make a ''decent size army''and no no one will laugh at ya 'cause its a uniqe and crazy idea
hope the advice helps!

A friend sold off his huge orcs & goblins army, so I bought all of his night goblins and a few other goblin things.. I have like 200 goblins to paint now But I think they'll look good all together once I can get a unit done. I painted this one guy pretty quick so it shouldn't be too bad. I was afraid all those white robes would take too long to paint, but there's so many models I'll dive myself crazy trying to do every little detail, so I'm just gonna do quick washes and drybrushing.

I've seen a Smurf goblin army before, on Da Warpath I believe. The guy also did tiny smurf tails using balls of greenstuff at the backs of their robes. It looks pretty awesome once it's all done, and it sounds like it's a pretty quick painting process. Good luck!

ah.. hawk turquoise .. didn't think of that. I was also thinking of just using asurmen blue wash right over the white primer instead but I was afraid it would look too light. I was thinking though I might do the front rank models and characters really nice, and all the back ranks faster so maybe I'll try just the blue wash on some of those and see how it looks.

Didn't know there was another smurf army, like the tail idea I think I may just have 1 big orc great shaman as the army general, he'll be Popa Smurf

As long as you convert a giant to look like gargamel I reckon your onto a winner

I like 'em.
Maybe give them yellow warpaint or something, that'd look REALLY cool.

I'm gonna have to see Papa Smurf before I'm sold on the idea, but so far so good.

Looking good! Though the older Netter looks a bit weird with his new smaller gobbo friends...

I always preferred the older night goblins, but the new ones look ok en masse...

For what it's worth, the tails probably aren't necessary - I think the blue skin/white robes already make 'em look a lot like smurfs.

Yes, yes, yes!

These guys look great, and everyone may laugh, but it'll probably be with you more than it'll be at you.

This is pretty awesome. I did my Green Tide (100 Orks) in blue as a sort of hats-off to The Smurfs. Which I thought was really funny. Your Night Goblins are pretty epic. Keep up the good work!

Oh, and make sure your leader looks like Papa Smurf for the W1N.

Yes I'll be making a Gargamel giant, eventually. But I already have so many models to do, will take a while to get to him.

As far as the army goes I'm planning to have lots of shamans, probably lead by a great shaman and I'll paint his robes red and he'll be Popa Smurf. Though I was thinking about using an orc great shaman instead, and have the rest be all goblins.

I'm expecting to have 2 bit units of Spearsmurfs, 1 big unit of Swordsmurfs and 1 big or 2 small units of Bowsmurfs. And a couple units of small Smurfspiders, and the one Ginormous Smurfspider.

Oh also, i decided to make an army blog post .. I'll keep adding pics as I get more done but this is gonna be a pretty long term project, mixed in with all my others

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/366342.page

I'll pretty much be doing 1 unit at a time, so when I finish my first unit I'll move on to something for another army and keep things new so I don't get burned out doing the same thing all the time Also working on necrons and my lizardmen.
