It is an off-handed way to say that you can counter a lot of the new codexes (i.e. Grey Knights) by taking a board-wide psychic hood with an allied Inq.

A lot of people have seem to have forgotten about them since most people think of Inquisitors they think Mystics and forget about the Inquisitors that are part of the Witch Hunters codex. In the future I think you will see a lot of armies (especially mech guard) taking them to shut down Grey Knights with their leadership of 9.

Inquisitor Lord with psychic hood, Divine Pronouncement, and a Calidus Assassin (from C:WH) are pretty good combos. Especially in an IG army featuring Psyker Battle Squads.

low model count psykic dependent GK might get stomped by eldar. They just run up and FD the GK to slag instead of sitting back and waiting like most games

As an Eldar player I love Runes of Warding to shut down psychic powers, but that does not make up for the overall weaknesses of the Eldar army.

The Eldar codex is just a little too long in the tooth to be able to compete with the other heavy hitter codexes like Space Wolves and Mech IG.

I would also think that Grey Knights can beat Eldar even without the use of psychic powers. They do not need hammerhand against Toughness 3, and removing shaken and stunned is nice, but they should still be able to put a hurting on Eldar with their massed fire.

Psychic defense does not stop Grey Knights.

It annoys them.

Then their Riflemen shoot you.

Then you lose for being dumb enough to think that all you needed was a Witchhunter inquisitor or runes of Warding for a win.

I agree with you, but it will not stop them from trying.

LOL at Psyflemen Dreads against Guard. With Typical 3x Venedettas, a Manticore, and 2 other Heavy Support Choices (up to player taste) All Psyflemen Dreads typically die to IG on turn one. (this is ignoring any suicide melta vets that might also be in the list)
So yeah, I can definately see some IG commanders taking a WH =I= as insurance against GK and other psyker armies.

Eldar have it tougher, but with Mechdar's 3x Prisms, ton's of EML armed WSs, Runes, and an Autarch to play the reserve Alpha Strike game, they have the tools to mess up GKs....thery just won't ROFLstomp them the way that mech IG can...especially mech IG with a hood.

Luckily no Dutch tournament allows for taking allies so I won't have to worry about those silly psychic hoods

Just to clarify Deadshane. I never once said that ROW was an instant win for Eldar. I said it was a counter.

I recently played my mech Eldar in two tournament games versus GK armies, and although the runes were nice, they weren't a game-changer. I think they managed to stop one psifleman from shaking off a stunned result one time (and failed to stop the same thing twice more). But I was trying really hard to *kill* the psiflemen, so there wasn't a lot of shaking/stunning going on anyway. The runes didn't really affect anything else in either game.

But that's only two games: YMMV.
