Hey guys,

My wife would like to have ago at painting a model. She is into her fantasy stuff (plays EQ2 and WAR)

Any ideas on what I should get her to start her off any simple female models out there?

There are some nice high elf /wood elf female characters that are actually wearing clothes, I think there might be some empire wizards too.

Your best bet would probably be Dark Eldar at the moment, but I keep hearing the Sisters of Battle army is getting redone either this year or early next year. You could start with the SoB and then get her some new models when they are released.

This is the best looking female model at the moment (and a Dark Eldar one):

and for SoB, this one is pretty neat:

I know that Lilith Hesperax isnt in the fantasy range but I do believe that it is the best female models available from GW. And I am pretty sure that there are some good female models in the Anima tactics stuff

Reaper minatures do some lovely female models, if you take a peek on ebay!

Also Warmachine/hordes has some nice single figures, in particular circle orboros / Cryx

from GW's range, you have dark elf sorceress/witch elves, the wood elves (as mentioned), sisters of battle (also mentioned), daemons, slaaneshi etc etc

I dont think there are any companies that comes even close to matching the variety and quality for Reaper's female miniatures

http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder

The figure finder is very handy to search and match the criteria she might be looking for.

I'll stick another vote behind Reaper. You could also check out Hasslefree, they have some fantasy stuff too.

I say reaper and hasslefree too.

And I must dissagree with lilith being gw's best female. The Escher gang is a lot better.

Maybe in terms of variety, 'cos they're pretty neat, but Lelith seems like a more technically accomplished model to me.

On the topic of the thread: Dark Eldar are good for this as you can make about half a box of females from either the Wych or Kabalite sets (though the Wyches are more noticeably women due to fewer helmets). Introducing them as "evil elves in space" makes total sense, 'cos that's exactly what they are.

Yes to high elves and wood elves. Bretonnian damsels are great too plus you can get the OOP ones for peanuts on ebay. I'll second that reaper have nice girls. IMO dark eldar females and most of the hasslefree ones are more the type guys like to paint and not girls.

Mordheim have the sisters of sigmar, they are pretty decent (at least some of them).

Another vote for Reaper, Fantasy Flight Games (anima tactics specifically), or Rackham.

I'd pretty much stay away from GW females unless she is more into the cartoonish look. Even GW fantasy females are all slightly out of proportion.
