I really wanted the rag-tag horde look for my boyz, so I ended up choosing 5 very simple paint recipies:

Black (Chaos black, highlight codex grey)
Red (Red gore, badab black, highlight blood red)
Grey (codex grey, badab black, highlight fortress grey)
Brown (snakebite leather, badab black, highlight snakebite leather)
Denim (paint skull white, heavy was of watered-down enchanted blue, badab black wash)

and then painting the shirts and trousers randomly with those 5 colours, really give the scruffy horde look!

I drybrush any shade of grey you want and then give it a wash of badab Black, if you want the clothing red, then drybrush any shade of red and then give it a wash. This method works a trat!!

If you want to make it more detailed then highlight with the drybrushed colour after you've applied the wash!!

I hope this helped!!

The Humies Waste presious time with slow and boring speeches; While the Oks just get it over and done with in one simple WAAGGGHHHH!!

Nice but not for me. My Orks hold tea parties and have pleasant chat whilst showing off NMM.

In short they have NMM OSL and the like Im thinking more of a bright crisp but with variety still.

Any ideas you guys will be helping me no end.

i usually just give mine a coat of bestial brown and then a devlan mud wash, but for extra detail start with scorched brown, then blend up to bestial, and then to graveyard earth at the very edges

I might just use that.
I will run a test. Except Im doing Scorched brown blending into bestial brown whith a wash of devlan mud and a highlight of Graveyard earth.

My Goffs are Vermin fur and Chaos black with belts and things done in white I mix the trousers and top colours around to make them look less uniformed.

My Deff skullz are scorched brown top and kamando Karki bottom (I thouht their Warboss would have enough teef to give his boyz a more structured colour)

Nice If not a bit simple.
Im thinking of a way too do cream/white looking trousers well. Any Ideas? I was toying with Bleached bone with Kommando Khaki in the recesses and then Skull white highlight with then a Liberal wash of Devlan mud?

Here are some pics of two orks I did using just bleached bone -> devlan mud.

I really like the look for trousers.

Bleached Bone + Devlan Mud is a good look for Orks. My army is all desert themed so it looks just right. If you're going over a black overcoat you can just built it up from Dheneb Stone.

Hmm bleaced bone devlan mud then highlight with bleached bone should suffice

I have decided to do with an Evil Sunz theme for my army. I paint their pants Khemri brown, shirts Mechrite red, and armor gets a basecoat of iyanden darksun (sometimes the red and yellow get swapped around), then wash in Dev. mud, highlight and move onto the next model.

For 400 dollars I got Jerry Garcia in a pouch, man!

My Horde (a tiny horde, but a horde nonetheless) is somewhat Steampunk themed, so fewer bright primary colors, more variety with metallics.

I usually brush basecoat with a #5 grey on a 10 grayscale, and then re-basecoat blades, metal and leathers with a rust-brownish-red.

Above that, I'll paint the leathers and fabrics brown, then the metals all get a coat or two of Tin Bitz. Nobz get their armour and weapon details picked out in Dwarf Bronze, with an occasional point of Burnished gold, while by HQs get a three layer effect with Tin Bitz, Dwarven Bronze, and Burnished Gold. My skin's a custom-mixed green that goes on real nice even over the bare plastic, occasionally drybrushed with a lighter green, then the teeth and nails and bone trophies are gone over in Bleached Bone. I'll sometimes pick out different kinds of leather (holsters, belts, etc.) with a more red-brown too.

Then the whole thing gets washed, black for most stuff, red for the mouth, and a drybrush of rust-red for blades and such.

The whole effect is rather nice, I think. I really need to get some pictures up sometime.
