Are there any gaming groups in north Texas that lurk the dakka forums?
If not I'm going to try to start a Wargaming club at a really nice shop near me as they have tons of room and I'm looking for a reason not to have 10 people over and play at my house. (Messy friends! )
The location is in Plano, TX and would be a good spot for anyone in Richardson,Garland, North Dallas, Allen, Carrollton, ect.

This would be a non-competitive club with just good fun with friends. If I did run any competitions it would be for painting, terrain building, ect. (Myself like many people do this to wind down from the hectic week and don't need people who are out to win at all cost playing)

I just moved out here and I have yet to find a place that really suits me. I'd show up some time.

Again, this is just for friendly games and general shenanigans. I'd like to eventually get a game club over here as the facility is really nice.

We'll be bringing 1500 points of 40k, but I'll encourage everyone to bring 500 and 1000 points, too. We have a few new players and I think they may only have 500 points atm.

Is this going to be a regular Saturday thing? I can't make it this week and I'm not sure about the next but by the third week I'll have just bought my first 40k army so it'd be pretty great for me. Currently I'm fantasy only.

I think we are going to make it a weekly thing, we had a good time this past weekend. We don't have any fantasy players atm, but we have several people (me included) that will eventually start.
If you are just getting into 40k though then it's a good time, we have 2 other new players and I actually spent yesterday playing a couple games with them teaching them the game.

If we don't have it then, then we'll have it weekly on maybe sunday in Richardson at another FLGS

Alright, I'll be getting 1500pts of Word Bearers in the next two weeks. If there's interest I have a small Dwarf army that I was going to start before deciding to get some 40k, someone can borrow them to get a game in.

I was also thinking about making a group at the Comic Asylum Ultrafool. Maybe even noon on Sundays if I can get enough people. The biggest issue right now is trying to work around peoples schedules.

Well we met at 'Madness' yesterday evening. It's a very nice group of people, and we had lots of fun playing 40K. It's a mixture of experienced players & newbies. I hope the group continues and expands.

Regarding 'Madness' it was my first time there. When you enter the store, be sure to stop at the register and ask them where the miniature gaming is, because it's in another location. In their main store, where they have 40K for sale, along with tons of comics and cards, etc. they have lots of tables for playing cards. However, the 40K tables are two doors down. The 'Madness' shops are separated by another store. The 40K location just had an 'Open' sign as far as I could see. They only have two tables, but they're both 4x8. One has very good terrain. The other looks great but needs some things added to it. They have lots of room to expand and they indicated that they plan to expand their 40K area, but that it will take time.

I'm looking forward to going back.

Did the store that was in Addison @ coit & preston that had to close due to their landlord not complying with the fire code ever get a new location? I can't recall the name of the place at the moment.

@Nowlan, The Gamers Realm, it was at coit and beltline in Richardson, and yes they closed because of fire codes. They said they would open up in december 2010, but never happened.

I do, in north Dallas also. Fantasy doesn't seem too popular around here though there's quite a few people interested in starting. I'm open to play most afternoons after Thursdqy through Sunday afternoons. I told a couple folks at Gunslinger Games I'd give them a demo game some time, if you want to come as well.

Since this thread is fairly active, I'll advertise, we've got a new rpg group meeting at Gunslinger Games in Dallas every other Thursday. We'll be making characters the first Thursday of June and anyone is welcome to come out. We're leaning towards 4th ed DnD to start but we've got several other games we're considering, including Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy. No materials or experience are required. Shoot me a pm if you're interested.

Another Planonian here, cool to see a lot of active groups around these parts. I dont game too much but I'm trying to get a full fantasy army and I have a sizable 40k collection.

As far as gaming, CA Richardson on jupiter has people playing on tuesday nights, Hobby Town Plano has people Wednesday and Saturday for 40k, Hobbytown Frisco is pretty active although I dont really like playing there, and Area51 has a great group as well out by dfw.

Let me know when you do the Fantasy demo... I have a fully painted army and would love to play... I dont live to far from Gunslinger..... The weekends are best for me... I can play some this saturday or 2 weeks from this weekend.. Let me know.. We can do a small game if you want as I have only played 8th edition once

I think we are going to stick with the group at Madness, people seem to like the location and I've got a good amount of interest in it. We won't have it this weekend due to the holiday, but after that we will try to move ahead in full force.

If you like a non-competitive, goofy group of people then you should come out. I'm going to try to get some more tables set up in the room we were in, we've already got too many players for the 2 tables that were set up.

EDIT: Emailed the owner and he said they are putting up a 3rd 4x8 table this week and we have access to a bunch of fold up tables.

I have been going to GW in frisco for my games but stopped by madness a month or so ago to pick up some cheap miniatures. I'm in Mckinney off of custer so the location is good. Do you guys get any fantasy games going? Perhaps this is another nail in the coffin on my decision to start a 40k army

We have the rules and I USED to play fantasy. We may eventually start, but I suspect only after necrons come out and my wife finishes her DE army.

I used to go to the GW in Frisco all the time until the awesome manager left and they got rid of the other awesome redshirt and replaced him with a one man operation.

You're welcome to come up though, we'll eventually have some warmahordes going and perhaps even some anima tactics. Fantasy is one of those things that even more expensive than 40k, lol.

We don't have any active fantasy players who I have meet, so just warning you. Though we have just started, so I'm sure we'll get some here soon.

[youtube]I finally got my 40k stuff so I should be able to come out next week or the week after. Depends on how long it takes to build. I'll bring fantasy as well if there's players. Like I said, I can provide about 700 points for anyone who wants to try it. For that matter I can bring Malifaux if anyone's interested, I have two crews, all the rules, and have never got a game.

I haven't played Malifaux yet, but I did pick up the hordes and Anima Tactics rulebook just to see what the systems are like.. Though if necrons come out soon like rumored, I think I know where all my money is going to be dropped.
