Active duty US Navy here. My ship just pulled into San Diego and I have 2500 points worth of Daemons with me. I'd love to get a game in the San Diego area, but since I arrived by ship, I don't have a car. I'm fairly savvy with the trolley system however (i've been here a lot before, but never brought an army with me). I would love to get a game between now and the time I have to leave (roughly the beginning half of June) so let me know if you wanna throw down some dice.

And hay, if you pick me up from the front gate of the base for some wargaming, I'll buy the tacos/beer/what have you.

Meet at games empire perhaps? Who knows. I heard it's pretty awesome now (haven't been there in a long time)

Calling Game Empire awesome is a bit of a stretch. It still remains the only worthwhile gaming space in central San Diego so it is the hotspot. Since it is the only option, it is constantly busy and filled with the unfortunate stinky members of our hobby. If you want to get some gaming in, I recommend getting there early on an open day an grabbing a table in a corner to hide from the nurgle rot.

bwahahaha

Well I don't know anyone who plays in San Diego so getting there early etc. isn't really going to help me out.

I play in San Diego at Game Empire nearly every weekend. Avoid the 3rd Saturday of the month, that's when the RPG Association plays, they fill up most of the store then. Try and hit up the forums! Actually, if you'll be in town during June, the next league starts up then (Wednesday Nights). Again, look up the forums. That's the best time to go, otherwise, pickup games are pretty easy to find. There's a campaign going on recently, on Saturdays, too.

Pretty much, Game Empire is the biggest place for wargaming in San Diego. It's not the best, but it works. As for public transport, the bus drops by there every now and them.

You don't need to be there early (except 3rd Sat. of the month). It opens at 10, usually pretty empty, especially on weekdays. Weekends it's decently filled. Call them for more info.
