So I have recently started reading the Horus Heresy Novels. So far I have been really into the whole story of it, perhaps at times the actual writing could be better, but overall I like the lore for it. So as my subjects states, pretend you were a Primarch for a 21st legion, would you rebel and join Horus, not knowing he was going to die, or stay true to the Imperium and slaughter the traitors who dare turn their backs on the Emperor. I can sorta feel some sympathy for Horus at times in the series, but I would never betray the Emperor of the Imperium if I were one of the Primarchs.
I'm sure there has been a topic about this before so sorry if I am repeating someone else. But which would you choose?

I think if I was in the 40k universe in any incarnation I'd inadvertently fall to Chaos somehow. But in a slow, insidious, corrupting manner, like a radical inquisitor going too far, rather than a super unsubtle desicion to wake up and lop off some heads.

Thats living the dream brother... I mean Chaos is pretty tempting if you think about it, especially for the any single person who is below the primarch or emperor. You have the choice of taking commands from someone else all your life, fighting for a cause thats not your own and slowly dieing and agonizing death of a couple hundred year period. Or you could take the opportunity at a one in a million shot of ruling the galaxy...pretty tempting

I would join neither and make my own little empire on the eastern fringe

I'd stay loyal. In the crapsack world of 40k, at least with the Imperium, I could do some good.

I would most likely turn renegade but not join Chaos either, kinda like the Soul Drinkers but on a larger scale.

Ya like one of those governors who just joins the indigenous world and rejects the Imperium? I would just be to worried about having some space marine chapter fly to my planet and wipe out the entire populace

The likelyhood of turning into a gibbering wreck/horrible mutant with no mind of his own increases 10 fold when in service to chaos, and I don't like that.

I agree plus, not a fan of tentecles. But the start your own empire on the eastern fringes seems pretty cool, as long as it was out of the way of the various hive fleets.

I don't want to mutate into a million mouths that are all screaming, all the time. I'm always a good guy at heart, and would stay loyal.

I like this plan. but maybe not on the eastern fringe. I'd try to find a feral world so I can scare them with a flashlight.

I feel horrible playing an evil character in video games. Going Chaos IRL would be nigh impossible. Also, while immortality is pretty neat, the small attention span of the gods, the risk of being a chaos spawn, and how quickly their favour leaves you make sit too risky for me. I'd have to go Imperium.

I find it hilarious being evil... not even evil with a purpose just mindless evil for the sake of evil.
I wouldn't be loyalist but i wouldn't be all the way traitor...
Maybe like what the Alpha Legion and the Night Lords did except i would distance myself from Chaos a bit more and then start with the mass terror attacks and infiltration.

I'd stay loyal. The imperium isn't perfect, but it's better than anything else.

I would be first to fall to chaos. As soon as i'm ready ( Project 21 Finished ), I would use my abilities for evil!!!

I'm a coward. So depends which side was aiming a bolter at my head at the time.

Why betray something I have followed for so long in my life, who the entire common universe follows, who millions upon millions fight for. I would be a loyal marine, probably living to maybe become a chapter master, then become a martyr when captured by Chaos. Chaos are way too unreliable, and might turn their back on you, but the God Emperor and the Imperium wont.

I would turn against the Imperium ...happily.

I'm the decent, stable yet boring type.

Place my vote in the 'neither' column. Screw them all, I'm going that way and starting my own empire where my father's wishes of a secular society will be realized. None of this 'God-emperor' crap.

Depends on my role in the Imperium, should i be warp-sensitive and eventually be turned into an Inquisitor i'd stay as loyal to the throne as i could.

Thought, after a few years as a grunt in the gaurd, with no promotion in sight (other than to full-dead) i'd likely turn renegade, but like the other Dakkaite above, i would go to Chaos.
