I just bought 3 boxes of GK's because I'm starting up an Army. I need to paint a total of 30 Purifiers. I want to do them all at above standard level. Where do you think this one stands? Also how can I improve? Lastly how to you make the eyes glow on them? Thanks for the help guys!

You can make the eyes glow with an airbrush real easy. Mist the eyes and area around them with a darker color and them fill in the eye with a brighter color.

The showcase board is for finished models and projects, so I'm going to move this to P & M general.
It's fine work so far though, a wash or two should tie it together nicely. Keep up the good work.

I feel like if I give it a wash it would ruin the whole bright armor aspect of the Grey Knights.

Looking good so far but as people have said a wash will defo help, you can always highlight back up to a brighter silver if you go OTT with wash, but it would help to pick out some details

It looks really good, but the shoulder pads are throwing me off a bit. I thought that GK didn't paint their armor. Do they do shoulder pads or are you just doing what you like?

That would be my only recommendation as well. It needs shading in the gaps/crevasses, etc. Other than that great looking work youve got there.

The metal looks a little dull and lacking depth, so yea I think a wash would help. If you want something awsome paint your blade blue and highlight edges with white I think that would be fantastic but then again what do I know.

Going forward with the other 29:
Prime black, then go easy on the silver airbrush. Avoid filling in the recesses and have some shaded areas of the armor. For gold I start with Dwarf Bronze, Flesh Wash, Burnished Gold, Shining gold, TINY TINY highlight of Mithril Silver.
You can highlight the silvers as well of their armor, do your airbrush of Boltgun (or dark metal) and highlight (either wetbrush or dry brush whichever you are more confident with) upto mithril again.
For the loin cloth and any other "bone" colored I go: scorched brown, bestial brown, bubonic, then bleached bone. Each layer I go I paint more in the raised area and less in the other areas. I have found that a wet brush works best for this, but making sure that the amount of paint on my brush doesn't overpower and fill in the areas I want to be shaded.
With the writing, practice practice practice. I usually before going onto the mini will paint the word on my tile to get a feel for how the letters will work.
The black areas (the gun and the back of knees) give those a light highlight with shadow grey, maybe space wolf grey on the gun.
For the shoulder pads, and around the purity seals/any other areas where you want to transition colors like that I use a wash to create a shadow/dark line that hides anything that bleeds into something else.
I would also look at a different color for the shaft, just to create a bit of diversity with the model and not almost ALL silver
Hope this helps!
(For this one, also do the blue wash with a bit of badab black in it for the entire thing to create those "shadows")

Alright so seeing by the comments I should wash it. Well I'm in school right now so when I get home I will try a very light wash of baba black. After I will go in with a blue and purple wash in the creves. I will hopefully post up some pictures around 5 eastern time. I'm also going to try get my Airbrush working and have a go at the nemesis weapon. Wish me luck! Automatically Appended Next Post: Got my airbrush working. I added a wash to the armor, did some osl on the eyes, and did the NFW. Now what do you guys think, I think it looks great.

Strategizing Grey Knight Chapter Master

Massive improvement over the first one, you can see more depth and the chink's/recesses now really stand out, if you were feeling more adventurous you could rehighlight the raised edges with mithril/chainmail silver. The blade looks good and the OSL on the eyes isn't over powering, all in all pretty good
If your open to some more C&C regarding the writing on the shoulder pad's, have you looked into micron pens? I found that when trying to write so small, a brush is harder to control than a pen, the micron pens are small enough that it wont look out of place and with a quick cover of hardcoat it wont rub off.

Yea, I'm going to be buying some Micron pens. A brush is almost impossible to write neatly with. Also I'm going to be getting some more paint for highlighting which will improve it even more. I may do author update. Thanks for the advice, also I looked at you models on your blog and they look great.
