I currently am building a "Green Tide" Ork army, complete with blocks of 30 Orks, including the PK/Bosspole nob. My question is that for every 10 "orks" in the squad you can upgrade his slugga/shoota to either a big shoota/rokkit launcha. So does this mean one I can put one of these big shootas on the nob, and the other two on a pair of boyz?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the nob is also an ork.

"If your nob wants your big shoota, you should give him your big shoota."

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

the thing is, if the nob has a big shoota, he cannot have a pk.

Since the big shoota replaces the slugga and choppa, you cannot replace the choppa for a pk since the choppa is already replaced

Big Shoota replaces slugga or shoota. Not both.

Scared me for a sec there!

My generic "squad leader" nobs originally just carried PK's, but then I lopped off their arms last night to ditch their sluggas for big shootas... so they have both big shootas and PK's. I'm glad its legal cause I dont think 'dem nobs want me to try being bad dok again.

Stupid? I think it's pretty awesome. Since your not (I'd hope) putting your wounds received on your nob best the big guns stay with the last Ork standing!

In term in playability, I totally agree with you, it is awesome, in term of how realistic the rule is, it is kinda dumb. I mean, the big shoot and rokkit models have both hands on the big gun no?

A Nob with a PK (kinda big weight) and a big shoota (another big wieght) Only a Warboss should be able to do that, lol. A nob with that laodout would be BS1.

Well, so that is why I say stupid rule because GW have a good habit of trying to make the game realistic, but forgoetting details here and there that make the game kinda unrealistic.

A nob on a bike can wield a Big Choppa in one hand, which is probably heavier than a big shoota or rokkit.

And Nobs can take both Twin Linked Shootas and PKs when they're footslogging. Two shootas strapped together can't be lighter than a single Big Shoota, can they? Not to mention with shoulder straps or such.

Now a Deffgun and a PK... That'd be a bit ridiculous.

but big shootas are way longer than shootas thus making it harder to lift one handed

Real Life ie:
Take a hockey stick (a wood one, not the super ligth weight new one that csot 200 bucks) and lift it to the horizontal and keep it straight is if you were aiming at something, now take a block of 20 pounds and lift it with one hand. Lifting the 20 pounds block will be easier than lift the hcokey stick and aiming with it. Same goes for big shootas. And since orks are bad shots to begin with, imagine with a one handed big shoota, lol.

Yeah, but a well-trained Soldier Human(=you holding the hockey stick) is S3, an ork nob is S4. He should be able to hold that thing much easier. Just look at their arms, they are as thick as the chest of a human.

Does that stop him from having a big knife on his person?

Marines carry a two-handed gun and a pistol.

Chaos marines and Grey Hunters have a rifle, a pistol and a close combat weapon. As do many soldiers in real life.

yeah, didn't saw it that way. I never thought of ork's being smart enough to think, hey i'm charging, maybe I should put the big shoot on my back and take out my knives, lol

One of my Big Meks has a Shokk Attack Gun (only non-vehicle carried Ordinance weapon in the game I know of ) and a Power Klaw.

It's a lot ridiculous, but then he teleports himself into combat with his targets way more often than I'd like

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts
