So, I have a sizable amount of old Demonhunters, mostly unpainted, but still ready to rock. I told myself that if they ever got an update, then I'd paint them and run them like the respectable force should be. Then I went to Adepticon and won the BattleFoam $1000 shopping spree the weekend that Grey Knights came out.
So I have a lot of Grey Knights now. A LOT of Grey Knights. The list of model I received today includes:
30 Grey Knights
15 Terminators
2 Dreadknights
2 Stormravens
Crowe
2 Jokaero
4 Razorbacks
2 Dreadnoughts
Normally, I'd be overwhelmed by this and it would take me over a year to paint it all, so I'm hoping that by starting one of these blags, I will be able to keep focus and actually get something done. Stay tuned and I will post pictures of my progress.

Embarassing though it might be, I meant to put this in the blog section. Could a friendly neighborhood Mod kindly move me to the correct section?
Thanks.

And so it begins. Here are a couple pictures of my first WIP. I JUST got a memory card for my camera, so I'm going to toss up in the next day or so all my already completed GK as well.
Today's (and tomorrow's at the rate I go) task at hand is one of the Stormravens. This model has turned out to be a bit of a beast. Honestly, I'd say it takes more time than a Valkyrie to assemble/paint, at least, if you're doing it thoroughly. I painted the inside before realizing it's too dark after putting the top on to actually SEE inside. Oh well.
Here's the overall theme I'm going for. Unfortunately, my camera did a great job washing out the whites I applied. They look a bit better than this in person, I swear. At any rate, I'm going for an overall grey with secondary color of white. Considering trying my luck at a freehand heraldry on the side a la the GW stormraven.
Here's a shot of the cockpit. It didn't make sense that a generic space marine would be trafficking Grey Knights around in this thing, so I stole some bits and make him look more fitting for the role. Note the white is completely washed out again. :(
Here's a shot of me trying to show that the inside is painted. I did the control panel as well, but you can't see them for the shadows. I'm actually considering installing an LED in it, but I can't figure out where I'd hide the battery. If I'm going to bother to light it up so you can see inside, it seems counterproductive to make sure you see a giant unsightly battery.
Thoughts and criticisms are as always welcome. I'm no Picasso, but I think I've got a good start. Tomorrow includes assembling the top turret and contemplating magnet placement for the guns, as well as edge highlighting and further painting.

Dude i'm excited to see the rest of all these models! Keep it up!
P.S did you wash that GKs armour in badab black? if not, I think it would probably look better then it does already! (it looks very good already, don't get me wrong, just my opinion )
keep it going!

Rather than paint much today, I got talked into a game with my roommate. Unfortunately, my IG fell apart to his Blud Angles, and I needed a couple stiff drinks. As such, I got the top turret on the stormraven, but did not get it completely finished, and will not be showing more of it as of yet. In the meantime, enjoy a few pictures of things I've already painted, and special mention of one that I only wish I could have said was painted by me.
First up, special mention. I bought this Land Raider at last year's Adepticon, and I really wish I could paint like this. I feel a little guilty showing it off in MY P&M blog, but hey, it's a part of my army, right? Enjoy.
Anyway, the thing's a work of art. I've been working on my whites, but I can't for the life of me get them THAT good. If anyone has any thoughts on how to do that, let me know.
Next up is something I actually DID paint and am pretty proud of, my psyfleman dreadnought:
You like Inquisitors, right? Have an Inquisitor:
I made this base from scratch. It's the GW one with some modeling paste I bought from hobby lobby on it. I then carved "stones" into the top of it, and painted it with overlapping layers of Adeptus Battlegrey, Codex Grey, Fortress Grey, and then Deneb Stone.
What up, Stern?
Let's not forget a few of Stern's closest friends:
As I'm sure you can notice from the last picture, there are still quite a few of them without any names on their shoulderpads. I'm accepting suggestions. I toyed around with the idea of printing my own name decals to put on them, but 1/16" x 1/8" is not enough room to get a good legible printing on, so I'm falling back to the old method of "carefully try to paint something on, then curse and repaint over it". I'd like some suggestions on this as well should anyone know a trick or two I could attempt.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I also just noticed that warding staff guy was missing his hand. I glued it back on.
Wanted to talk a bit more about the plastic terminators also. They're heavily magnetized, probably moreso than I will do in the future. The shoulders of each arm have magnets in them and the wrists on the NFW arms have magnets in them, allowing me to put them in virtually any pose I want. This was a lot of work and, in retrospect, was probably far more than I needed to ensure complete ability to swap out for new weapons.
Always hilarious to see the expressions on people when I knock one from a third story ruin for the first time though.

So I've not had much new to offer unfortunately. Last week was devoured by a wedding I was a part of and then this week didn't see much free time to work on anything too cool. With diecon this weekend, I'm not sure how much more I'm going to have to contribute to the immediate future, but I'll try to sneak in a pic or two from time to time.
Here's my first serious crack at an objective marker:
It came out a little more sparse than I'd initially pictured, and the shadows on the sword do too good a job hiding the halfway decent job I did on the damaged shoulderpad shield in the background. Finally, I tried to get an OSL glow from the sword on the stonework, but I think it just came out looking like the stone was dyed blue. I would appreciate any thoughts on that.
Next up is my next WIP, and my first look at a finecast model. These have been getting all kinds of hate, but I've been waiting for them for this very conversion. I would never have attempted what I've done here with a pewter model:
With respect to Finecast, this model came out almost perfect. Not sure if I got lucky, or if I got one that was on a second generation run, or what, but the only imperfection (other than pounds and pounds of flash covering the thing) was a small chip in the heel of one of the boots was slighly missing. A minor annoyance, but I've seen worse imperfections in plastic models. At any rate, let me know what you think. I'm having issues with the NFW arm. The shoulderpad is too small, but I'm not sure what to do to bulk it out. I don't want to use the generic terminator arm as I don't think it's "Grey Knight" enough, but with the out of proportion shoulderpads (even by GW standards) that the Librarian has, I'm not sure what other option I'm going to have.
Also, I tried repositioning the sword arm above his head after taking the picture, and I think I like it that way more. It's a bit more of an action pose. Still not sure about the shoulderpad size though.

I've had a couple nights, and so, Librarian Anzio is now complete.
Bang.
Looking more closely at the pictures, I think he needs a black wash in the joints and along the fingers still. Overall, I'm really proud of how well he came out. I'm glad I spent the extra time making the helmet and the NFW arm work. Those really set him apart from vanilla Librarians. Next up, I hope to finally finish the storm raven that I started, then I'll be back to terminators.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, you might notice he has an ordinary base still. He's one of the guys I'm planning on taking to Adepticon for the team tournament next year, so I'm holding off on doing anything for a base for him until we decide what theme we want to go for.

Been a while since I've had anything posted on here. Life's been busy and I haven't had nearly the time to paint I wished I did. I may be taking another hiatus to get my IG up to code for a local escalation tournament also. Anyway, here's Thor:
In addition to being a pain in the ass to assemble, Thor is also my first attempt at small amounts of weathering. I put 'grime' on the rivets and there are 'battle scars' throughout the body. I put a bunch on the feet, which I now honestly feel are kind of cluttered looking, but that's only because I picture the majority of the close combat enemies not getting very far past it's ankles.
Please let me know what you think of the piece overall. How can I improve my 'griming'?

A great start, mate. Light drybrushing of brown/grey tones can add a lot of muck to figs, in my experience.

I was putting together another dreadnaught when, much to my excitement, my order for a FW dreadnought body came in! I built out the right autocannon arm easily enough from the lascannon arm. It's looks good and I think that's how I'm going to build them from now on, but I wanted to do something different for the other arm. I like the idea of each of the GK dreads being beautiful and unique snowflakes since they're supposed to be rare and thousands of years old, so I'm trying to capture a sense of them being built over a disparate number of years and designs. While trying to figure out how to do the other arm, I was looking at some of my terminators, which it occurred to me. Make it a wrist mounted autocannon like the stormbolters are on the infantry!
After some greenstuff and agony, I have my results. Let me know what you think! Does it look too much like a DCCW still or is the effect I was going for obvious enough? I mean, there's no way you'd be able use the fist with those giant barrels sticking off of it, right? Are the barrels too long? They stick out about another inch or so beyond the other autocannon when they are both level, so I could trim them down.

I like this, but think it needs something more out the back. Possibly run additional power cables/ammo feed, eg off NDK psycannon? I'm sure I've got a couple spare.
