Looks awesome, what does it count as or is it more of a show piece?

Seems like a sentinel to me. Looks good, I really dig the scratch building work, and the paint job really pulls it all together. That's something I've begun to notice: great conversions can be very quickly ruined by a mediocre or poor paint job.

Is this a scratch built model, or something you converted from a kit?

Really nice painting and nice idea.
But I can't really feel the Imperial touch on this vehicle. It's to soft and delicate compared to the hard and rough things the Imperials usually have.

I agree. Paintjob is superb but looks out of place to be imperial guard

That is by far a fantastic idea and very well put together if i do say so myself, although would it be too much to ask if you have any WIP photos around, I would love to see the work you put into it underneath the paint...

Thanks a lot Everybody for warm welcome of the project!

@Nolan and LunaHound: Yep, it is coversion of Zeon Mobile Scout from UC HardGraph Gundam 1:35 kit. (http://www.gundam-hardgraph.net/products/)

@Vash and kenshin620: Imperial armoury evolving steadily through the ages. Since the Krieg era all LRBTs, Chimeras, Hellhounds were uplifted, Manticore and Deathstrike were invented. Some technologies are still unaccesible (like antigrav) and waiting for their moment. Why not an early test of skimmers could not exists in Imperium? First skimmers are still very fragile, powered by props, but thanks to new light materials and small but powerfull engines, could perform their role on the Battlefields.

@PR03: Yep, pic before painting:

@Lappie: I think, it could count as landspeeder: Opentopped with AV 10/10/10 . It is light enough to be fast skimmer to move max 24" or 18". Maybe it can get extra cover save (e.g. 3+) due to small size, low profile and low noise. Maybe it could have other weapon options. Also I think about special rules: Heat flares (some sort of protection agains some weapons) and Recon ability. Points 45-60?

P.S. Show is also important

Well my issue is not that it could exist, more that the design isn't what the imperials go for. It's far to smooth

The new technology your talking about, example manticore and death strike are based on the same chassis as the existing chimeras.

But true as you say, new tech is almost always welcome (beware of the watchful nquisition though ).

I love it.

...although, I'd like to see what would happen to the vehicle if the guy actually fired that autocannon in flight. Accidental barrel roll FTW!!!

I got one for sotr its 1/35 scale so quite big for 40k but you could use it as a base for a larger tank. Would make a cool army theme in my opinion.

Thanks for the reference! The vehicle is realy cool, inspirational and was never seen before. It fits very well to aircav/skimmers army theme. But after investigation of pics, the kit itself seems simplified. I am considering to scratchbuild a bigger skimmer/speeder.

The kit would need a lot of work I haven't even started on mine yet. I'm working out the best way to attach a Sherman turret to it at the moment.
I think it will need a lot of plasti-card to get it to look not just plonked on.
There is some footage on you tube of the real airgeep being tested that was worth a look if you need a diversion!
