I have long wanted to start a Imperial Guard army but I can never decide if I want a cadian or catachan army. So now I ask Dakka which you think I should pick, I'm fine either way I like both of them. =)

Mix both. Base it on one and use parts from the other to add variety.

I shall rule the world someday utilizing my cuteness. And I already have one minion to help me do it!

Of course it makes sense. When there are a bunch of BDSM clowns doing Olympic gymnast routines throughout your unit, while also cutting off heads, you tend to get a bit distracted.

Cadian. If you ever get board of being Cadian, you can strip them, repaint them, and make up your own fluff.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

You could always have Cadian/Catachan army with detachment from another Cadian/Catachan regiment.

Cadians. Maybe catachans as penal legion.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

It's easier painting to do cadian, however mixing in cata guys as vets and other stuff works well too.

Look through the codex and figure what stuff you like. If there is a special HQ that is cadia/cata that you want to use, then do that.

I want to say Catachan, because they're significantly less common, but I really prefer the Cadian models. Honestly, you wouldn't have a hard time justifying a mix, if you care enough about fluff to bother.

Catachans.

Cadians look like prancing doughboys from WWI next to the Rambo awesome winsauce that is the Catachan.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

It's also easier to convert cadians.

The catachan box has some nice bitz to it, but the pieces don't always fit together nicely, and it's much more difficult to hack those muscley arms apart and reassemble them in a way that looks good than an arm wearing clothing (fabric folds can cover anything). Also, with a little work, cadians can be painted and converted to represent a much wider array of armies (from mordian to tallarn) than catachan, who are always stuck being an army of muscley brutes.

If you want something from the brute line a la street gangs or mujahadeen, then go catachan. For everything else, cadians are probably going to be a better fit.

Neither.

Terraxian regiments are the best.

Cadians and Catachans both have cool fluff, but the Cadians have better models.
