Actually, I can see the utility of a 'like' button. It wouldn't just be making dakka into facebook40K, it'd help measure the popularity of suggestions etc in Nuts & Bolts and gauge consensus in YMDC without the need for loads of QFT posts clogging up the flow of discussion and debate. And if there's a function that encourages P&M blogs to compete for 'likes', that might drive users to add even more awesome content.

Seriously, this has been gone over many times before.
And IMO, a O & M Blog should NOT, EVER be about competition, its about showing what you are up to and getting feedback from on it form other users. Maybe thats just me.
