Subject: Feature Request - 'Like' Button

yeah, Just a Idea. dakka could copy the 'Like' button from facebook. So when you are looking in the forum if you find a post you really like you can click a 'like' button. Posts then display the number of Likes they have recieved. As people like seeing that people are responding to their contributions, this will encourage better posts. There could also be a daily and weekly leaderboard that tracks the likes So people can find the good stuff they might have missed. maybe even add a dislike button too! so we can name and shame the worst poster each week! Panic...

There was a massive discussion on this a while back and we agreed that something along the lines of a like button would be useful. A dislike button would be counterproductive so will not get added, but a like button is planned (although fairly low priority compared to some of the other key updates planned).

yeah,
all good, but keep it in mind should you feel the need to sit indoor on a laptop improving dakka instead of outside in the sun!

Why did you necro this thread for? This feature is already implemented - it's the Exalt button.

Threadromancy, also the feature was indeed implemented as the Exalt feature.
Also the button is on a thread basis, the link at the bottom right of a post is for the post itself. Perhaps it could be changed to having the exalt button on the posts and the thread one changed to an exalt thread button?

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
