Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I am looking for alternatives to say the Dozer Blade, as I am building an army known for its ability to mine and work underground I was thinking of adding big drills to the front of my vehicles. If anyone happens to know where I could acquire some I'd be much obliged. Other manufacturers, loose bits, kitbashing - I am all ears.
Thanks in advance,

the only big drill i know of is from forgeworld...and the armorcast escapepod you shoed on your own blog...
no wait i tell a lie, there is a company called ramshacklegames
http://shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_32&products_id=196

and from FW there is the hades

and the dread assualt arm weapon...
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/MK-IV-DREADNOUGHT-ASSAULT-DRILL-LEFT-ARM.html

but i bet you could very well make a big drill like the hades by yourself...i always wanted to make that on my own with those fireworks caps i salvaged after new years:

add either a bit of plasiccard or cardboard to make the curvy structure of a modern day drill or add spruebitz chopped up to small cubes and you have a hades drill section on your own...at least in theory^^

hope i could help^^

Keep an eye out in your toy store, giant drill shapes often appear on action toys and toy tools. Lego even made one for their Rock Raiders (I think that's what it was called) range a couple of years back.

and have a look around your hardware store, e.g. there are drywall anchors (for hanging things from drywall walls) that are vaguely giant drill bit shaped. And there may even be an actual drill bit in the right size and shape, which you could cast in something lighter than steel

There's also a drill tank from Ramshackle Games. Looks awesome and is what I based the drill tank counts as drop pod for my own Crimson Fists army.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

Those would make nice drill tank noses!

They would, but Im looking for a piece, not an entire tank. I figured if I could mount something looking like a drill at the front of my regular tanks and such it would count as a Dozer Blade and is more in line with my army theme of them being adept miners and such.
Appreciate the suggestions though (I did already order one of those Boring Machines), too bad I cant actually use Drop Pods because that thought had occured to me too.

hmmm had an idea just this minute... you could have used lego tech clockwork cogwheels...like giant sawblades as count as dozerblades...

I looked into this a while back for this guy here:

The one I ended up using came from this Gurren Lagann Revoltech figure. That probably wouldn't work too well for lots of tanks though. The Ramshackle games boring machines are pretty cool, I have two and I quite like them (using one as the dread's drop pod, haha).

The lego rock raider one would be a good size, a little smaller than my dread's drill, but it's got a lego stud at the front, so it's not the pointiest of drills out there.

Killa kans have a set of small drills that you might be able to find on ebay or bitz sites. Pic from bitzbarn, but they're out of stock.

I believe there's a Warmachine warjack that includes a drill on it, but I'm pretty sure it's an all-metal kit too so again probably won't be as useful.

Look around for other toys with drills on them, certainly. I had a hard time finding anything appropriate though.
